Zero Turn Z7000 - I need help today, June 26, 2009

Our mower starts but belt will not turn and it won't go when handles ingaged. A bolt that hold the frames together came out and my husband and a friend put it back on. Someone said that it might be an electrical problem or we didn't know if maybe it had something to do with the bolt being too tight, etc. We have had nothing but trouble with this mower. Would not buy another one. Could someone please help. We really need an answer today. Thank you for your time.

We can't find anything in the manual that shows a flywheel key. Could it be called something else? Could you tell us where to look for it? Thanks for your help.

    reese911,

I'm sorry to keep bothering you but we took the battery out and there is no way to get to the pulley from there. It looks like you have to go underneath the tractor which we have no lift to do that. Do you live in Louisville, KY by any chance to where you could look at it? Thanks for all of your help. I really appreciate it.

Check to make sure you have not sheered the key on the jack shaft when it is running look with the deck down and engaged that the pulley on the deck are turning also check the pulley on the bottom of the motor grab it and turn it it should turn with the engine if not replace the flywheel key

when you lift the seat take out the battery to access the rear axle on the top of that axle there is a pully wheel probably around 5 - 6 inches in diameter ,that pully wheel is keyed with a slot just as the shaft it sits on that is where the key slides in to lock the 2 pieces together.the pully is either fastened to the shaft by a nut on top or a c clip which has to be removed to pull the pully off.if you take the tension off the belt turn the pully it should not turn freely if the key is not broken if it does the keyway is broken and must be replaced.let me know. send me the make model and serial # off the unit i will give you the part # for the keyway

My belt keeps falling off and I don't know how to make it stay on.

I have the same mower. Check the idler pulley that tension the belt when you pull up on the handle. Make sure it turns freely.when there is no tension on the belt. Depending on how long you've had this mower, your belt could have stretched and needs to be replaced. I hope this helps.

How to replace mower belt for ZTR cub cadet mower

Changing the Blade Drive Belts:
a.Set the parking brake. Remove ignition key and both spark plug caps.
b.Unscrew the wing nuts from the deck covers and remove both covers.
c.Using a 3/8" socket breaker bar or socket ratchet insert the drive end into the 3/8" square opening in the lower idler arm assembly and push the idler arm counterclockwise. While holding the idler arm back, loosen the blade drive belt from the pulley and slide the belt away from the pulley.
d.Remove tension of the PTO belt by moving the belt tensioning rod. Loosen the belt retaining bolt.
e.Pull the tensioner pulley away from the belt and remove the PTO belt then remove the blade drive belt.
f.Reverse the process to install the belt.

All riding mowers have a seat safety, blade engage safety and a brake clutch safety, some mowers have a reverse mowing safety. Seat under the seat, blade and brake you will have to check the linkages underneath, and if there is a reverse mowing one I have seen them near the shifter handle right under the fender.

I have white zero turn 54" lawn mower. The engine runs but the blades won't turn on. Please any advise will help

This is a belt adjustment problem. You machines belt has either broken, or is loose to the point where it won't engage the blades at all, or has just slipped off the pulley. I believe the belts are on top of the deck covered by removable covers that are bolted to the deck. Check and see. GOOD LUCK.

My zero turn mower will not steer and the blades will not turn The only numbers i can find are MOSS 18C010041 SST18 W/48C

on the inside underneath the mower by the handles there is a bolt , this bolt allows you to push the mower when it is not running, so take brake off and see if you can push the mower if you can then the bolts need tighten. The blades are engaged by the PTO..... wait a minute sounds like you have a belt problem. check the belts make sure they are on all the pulleys. Hope This helps Tim

No result when i turn the key. Battery is charged. Last used a week ago with no problems.

Make sure the brake is set, and the two 'power' handles are centered, i.e., in neutral position. Both of these have an interlock switch that prevents the mower from being started. Good luck! Please rate if helpful, thanks.
