Check to ensure your getting power to the motor. If you are, the condenser fan motor is probably bad and will need to be replaced.

Outside unit will only run for a short amount of time with A/C before the fan stops turning and starts humming, squealing/screeching and the top of the outside unit gets hot.

The bearings are bad in the motor and after the fan runs enough it eventually gets hot, making the bearing screech and the fan locks up. Need to replace motor again. See if it has a warranty. The reason it gets hot is because the fan is what removes the heat from the coil and if the fan isn't running there is nothing to cool it off so to speak.

Why tempstar 5000 High Efficiency a/c outside fan won't turn off ?

Sounds like your contactor is sticking in your outside unit. They could be welded shut.

Fan outside isn't running and when turned on the unit outside is running very loud.

The fan outside keeps your compressor cool, the compressor, if left running without the fan running to cool it down can get damaged, the fan normally gets its power from a switch box located outside or near
it. or the motor on the fan could have just gone bad. the fan motor is not as expensive as the compressor to replace. its easy to replace. sometimes what goes out 1st on these motors is the capacitor, the capacitor stores enough voltage to give the motor that extra push to turn. many times its just the capacitor that goes out. when you purchase a motor make sure you also get the matching capacitor.if you can turn the fan and it starts running, its the capacitor, if it starts running and has any kind of bearing noise then you will have to replace the motor. good luck!

Intertherm 13 SEER split air conditioner fans wont turn on?

OUTSIDE FAN OR INSIDE FAN OR BOTH. IF BOTH CHECK THERMOSTAT WIRE HOOK UP. IF YOU INSTALLED NEW TSTAT CHECK FOR JUMPER ON RH-RC TERMINALS ON TSTAT BACK PLATE. IF INSIDE FAN COMES ON WITH FAN IN ON SETTING AT FAN ON AUTO LEVER THAN PROBLEM IS AT OUTSIDE UNIT. CHECK FUSES IN BOX ON OUTSIDE WALL. SHUT OFF BREAKER FIRST.

Fan not turning outside

Is the outside compressor running? Check the fuses in the outside disconnect by the outside condensing unit. Also check the breaker for the A/C in the main power panel.

A/C quit running

This question is really to broad to answer. There are several things that could cause it to stop running. I think I would turn everything off, let it cool down for several hours and try it again. When you kick it back on, take note of what is running and what's not running. Inside fan, outside fan, compressor. If the outside unit will not run at all it could be as simple as a grasshopper caught in the contacts. If you hear the compressor running outside but no outside fan, The fan motor probably needs replaced. Please make sure that all power to the unit is TURNED OFF before removing cover plates on outside unit and before trying to remove insects from contact points. Check all wiring inside outside unit while it is open. Also check capacitors for swelling or leaking. If you don't know how to turn all the power off or open the outside unit, you need to call a professional AC technician. Hope this helps. kstfas
