Probably you just copied a shortcut to the location of the files. You need to go back and verify whether this is the case.

Hello Gwolk,

The Kingston 4GB DataTraveler Generation 3 (G3) USB 2.0 is a durable 4GB flash memory drive for use with both Macintosh and PC computers. It may be used to transfer files from one platform to another, or to carry files and small applications on a continuing basis. How can i unprotect my kingston data traveler 4gb usb flash drive? i cannot save data and when i reformat it it said it is in write protect.

if there is a switch on the side that changes colour from white to red that is the write protect, you may also have reached the capacity of writes to the card and this is also why it is saying write protected as it cant write to it anymore. These flash drives do have a high amount of writes for its life, but if you have been using it as a memory booster for vista or win 7 then those read and writes will soon mount up.
