Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I have a LG FULL HDTV (42LG70YD) and I get the same snowy flickery **** every few seconds, I went and exchanged my PS3 and it still does the same thing. I have used 2 separate HDMI cables and still nothing.
I going to try and find someone who has that "Monster HDMI cable (Monster 1000HD)", it's around $349.00 at Harvey Norman but everyones telling me its the best because the HDMI cable can pump more information through it - from the PS3 to the TV and vice versa.
It can't be the TV because its just new and also I got that promotional 26 inch TV from LG and I first hooked up my PS3 to that TV and straight away I was able to play at 1080p output. Now I can only play at 1080i.
I think Sony Computer Entertainment should bring out a new firmware update for the PS3 that is dedicated to only fixing this issue.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I did some further research. I updated my firmware for TV(samsung) to the latest. This did not resolve the problem. Then I changed the hdmi ports. what I found is that the problem(ofcourse only with 1080p) is seen in the first 3 hdmi ports on tv, BUT NOT at HDMI 4 port. That may be our TEMPORARY SOLUTION. but not a final solution.
In samsung LNxxA650 series, HDMI 4 is at the side, not in the same zone as other 3 in the back. so, it's hardware implement may be little different.
So, does it mean it's been all TV's fault? no, not necessarily. The ports 1,2,3 are working good with blue-ray disk videos with 1080p. How is that possible? So, well, for one, I think PS3 itself could use different ways (integrated chip vs embedded firmware OS ) for launching xmb vs running blue-ray videos. If it is a handshake issue, then PS3 has to resolve; I will also call samsung and launch an investigation. For them, All ports should behave the same. period.
Suggestion: As for other TV brands, try with other ports and check. Otherwise, update firmware/call TV technician. please launch complaints at TV so, that they realize that they need work together to with SONY folks to get this resolved.

SOURCE: PS3 static on screen
It sounds like you're carrying interference to your TV. Try moving you station away from any power source. Make sure your hdmi cable is away from any power as well. This may also be a ground issue. Plug your ps3 power brick into a different outlet.

You have a degree in computers & you don't know that both your tv & ps3 have to be on & running before you plug in any hdmi? lol. Hope you didn't over pay for the degree like you did for the cord

put your ps3 in standby (solid red light), and then hold the power button until it beeps a second time. then the picture should come up.
