What does it mean when a game wont start because it says d3dx9_42.dll is missing?

if physxloader.dll file missing from Dragon Age Origin install, game wont play. Please perform a clean boot, then right click on the game in Origin and Repair Game

.dll means it's an interactive library meaning that something is missing on your install. If reinstalling didn't do the trick try finding that specific file in your computer it might be misplaced for some reason or it might not exist at all maybe because your CD or install is damaged or corrupted.
