Re: filter

The other piece of filter is a pre filter that traps hair and other larger particles. You should clean it regularly according to the directions that came with your unit.

Air Purifier Cleaning

You bought that air purifier to help to clean the air in your home. However you have forgotten about it and now you expect it to still clean, when all of the cleaning surfaces and the filter that catches the big chunks are completely used up and covered with dust and dirt.

Here is what you need to do on a regular, like monthly, basis to keep it working well.

  1. If your unit has a filter or pre-filter pull it out and wash it gently in some warm soapy water. If the filter is a throw away one then place it in a plastic bag and dispose of it. Be careful not to throw it away before you make sure you know what to get to replace it. You may need the old one for comparison when purchasing a new one. Also take note of how you removed it and the direction of the air flow. Some of the filters are made to have the air flow in a certain direction. The filter is often located in the back side at the bottom of the unit.
  2. Take apart everything that you can on the air purifier and clean all the pieces with a moist cloth. You may need to take toothpick or something small to clean out the small grooves and crevices in the unit.
  3. Leave everything dry completely before reassembling the unit. This may take quite a while for some of the filter media. A few hours is not uncommon, be patient.

You now will have your air purifier working in top condition again

Which way does the filter go? I'm replacing the pre-filter and the hepa filter. Is there a front or a back to either? The hepa is a white square that looks the same front and back, except for diagonal...

there should be a directional arrow to show which way air flow should go, if its framed it will have a pull tab that goes facing out, if it a piece that looks the same on both sides, it can go in either way, if it has a white side it goes facing in

I have an Eagle 5000 air purifier. Stopped working

Just went thru this Tues. Get the top of screen in place and then push the plastic in on safety switch. I was having it push down and then slide screen in. That plastic piece is split like when you push it in, it hits 2 different heights. Instead of pushing it down get top in and push the plastic in, easy. Turned on then. Already had the switch on so it fired up soon as I pushed it in.

Removing Filter from Back of EcoQuest Air Filter

You have to remove the two top screws to take off the filter (lint screen). At least they put in hand-tightening screws in the later models. Make sure you also alcohol-clean the needle ionizer in the front and the radio-wave (round) one on the side! It's crucial to keep the "FAST" dust clearing capabilities!

A piece of regular size paper was inside the vent in our attic

Hi mattjules108,

If I understand correctly, this paper went down a hot air supply duct (i.e. the filter was over the outlet? - if not, correct me). If your ductwork is metal (as it is in most residential construction), it wouldn't matter if that single piece of paper caught fire (unless your ducts are so dirty that there's more fuel than just the paper there) - - if it did, it would only smoke-up your interior a little, the metal ducting should preclude a fire hazard. If you have your ducts cleaned you will probably be able to retrieve it. For that matter, a long vacuum hose inserted down the duct would likely retrieve it along with anything else down there that you don't know about from the previous occupants (kids toys, papers, whatever.

If you write back with more details, I may be able to offer more precise guidance.

If I can be of further assistance, or if you have questions, please let me know before rating me.

If this solves the issue, please rate it accordingly. My goal is to earn a "FixYa" rating from everyone I help.

Thanks for using,

Can't remove the filter from my Pur Flavor Options faucet mount water filter

When mine gets stuck I stick the handle of a fork or spoon into the hole where the water comes out and use that to unscrew it. Works like a charm every time.

Hepa filter

The red light indicates a plugged filter. Replace the filters plug the machine in and get a paper clip. Streighten out the clip and put it through the tiny hole in the top. You'll feel it push a switch that will give a click you can feel. Keep holding the clip wire down for several seconds. When the red flashes remove the clip wire. The light will stay off if the filter is clean.
