It totally depends how you disable your mccafe. In safe mode your mccafe is not at all loaded but when u boot in normal mode it loads I'll advise you to uninstall mccafe and install avg free edition its worth.

Cannot get on line in safe mode

safe mode is normally used to troubleshoot problems especially software and drivers. where you use this the computer boots up with minimum software running so you can fix problems. I am sure the modem or network drivers are not loaded and ect.

You most likely already have a virus blocking some ports try to run a scan in Safe Mode..............hit F8 key about every second when the computer starts to boot up choose SAFE MODE and hit Enter wait for screen to appear log on as Administrator and see if you can do a system restore to a date that you know the computer worked or

go to a working computer and download avira, avast or avg from

do the F8 thing again and this time choose Safe Mode with Networking try to install and update run scan in safe mode after update unplug or otherwise disable internet access while you are scanning...after update.....

you may want to try malwarebytes, spybot s&d, also on download .com

My computer virus protection found GRAY_Gen.MZ40K9 how do I get rid of it

Try my five easy steps (if the first option doesn't work).

Download and install Malware Bytes, it's a completely free virus scan utility that not only finds the viruses, but gets rid of them too.

1. Go to
(If the virus is so bad that you are unable to do so, get it off another computer with internet access and save the setup to a flash drive).

2. Boot the infected computer into 'Safe Mode With Networking' by repeatedly tapping F8 while the computer is starting up.

3. After entering Safe Mode /w Networking, drag the setup file to the desktop from the flash drive and run the setup to install Malware Bytes

4. After Malware Bytes starts up, go to the 'Update' tab and click Check For Updates. (This is the reason for booting into Safe Mode With Networking, so you can connect to the internet to download the updates).

5. Go back to the 'Scanner' tab and choose 'Full Scan' and then it will ask which drive you want to scan, select your hard drive and let it go!

Good Luck :)

What si gobilam_corp??

Oh buddy! Major bad thing man.
Restart your system. Hit F8 until you get a menu. Select "Safe Mode with Networking"

Then go here and have it remove that thing for you. Scan your computer with this after.

When all is said and done, DO IT AGAIN.

It's important not to go back to normal mode. When the computer restarts, make sure you're there to return it to safe mode (with networking).

After you scanned, with each scanner twice, restart in Normal Mode and rescan again!

I can't stress the important of these steps unless you want to reinstall Vista.

Windows Vista Freezes during Boot process

while in safe mode with network connectivity, go to trend micro website and do a free online scan. If you have Windows Defender updated, then try a full system scan, also while in safe mode.
