The laser is no longer lined up correctly, it is very delicate.

As a result of this your games will ALL be scratched upon use.

You need to send it to Sony Support and have them replace/repair it. If you still have a warranty on it this will be free, otherwise they will charge you.

The disc on my slim ps2 rubs against something on slim ps2. It leaves a big ring around the disc

The disc is most likely rubbing on the laser lens. The lens is held on rails which is held up by rubber boots that may have came loose and/or popped up forcing the laser lens to close to the disc. Make sure disc tray is aligned properly as well.

Leaving a ring of scratches on the outside of games cd's

Most consoles (PS2/360) have had reports and Microsoft finally admitted that they knew the console could scratch up games due to a failed design concept. Dont hear too many ps2 ring scratches. You could try this

Ps2 scph 77001 won't play backups on swap magic 3.6

This is a problem that has too many IF's in it lol. Let's take it from the top shall we?

When you said that you owned other PS2's were they the thick ones or the slim ones. Swap magic works best in the "thick older" models. In these new slimline ones it's got issues. That model number you posted belongs to a slimline model.

So since you're using a slimline model, I have to ask, Have you blocked the 2 sensors that you need to block in order to use swap magic. The slimline models are not like the older thick models. You need to block two sensors under the flip top so when you open the flip top the PS2 still thinks there is no swapping going on. If you have not blocked these sensors head over to youtube.com and start watchin vids with seach "how to block slim PS2 sensors" or "how to block slimline PS2 sensors" out of the three sensors you only really need to block two. If you have not done this at all, that is reason why it's not working. On older PS2 models you used a slidecard or some form of a flip top to swap out your disks. Nothing has changed on these slimline models. The PS2 still needs to be tricked out so it doesn't think you're swapping disks in and outa the system.

Hope that helps,

Black screen, no audio no video

Wow.... Never heard this one before....... I would try using your ps2 with different audio-video cables (maybe just from a friends ps2) If the other cables work than all you have to do is go to your nearest playstation supplier and get new audio-video cables for your ps2. (Walmart Usually sells them)

Hope this helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My ps2 slim is leaving rings on my games???????

I think the motor spindle is damaged , as the motor spindle holds the disc up or it could the lens assembly being misaligned which causes the lens to be angled and scratch the disc

i recommend you to look at the site http://www.forums.gamewinners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513070#Basic%20servicing for servicing if possible (slimline is somewhere at the bottom)

PS2 No Sound No Picture

This sounds more like a catastrophic failure on the main board.
Barring replacing the whole thing, you may find someone selling another as parts
