If you have another breaker, try installing another one.(i have gotten bad ones from new all ready). if you dont have another breaker, disconnect or unplug what ever is controlled by that breaker. if it still does it while everything is unplugged/disconnected, there is a short in the line.

Hatco booster blowing breakers

Copy following link:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-is-blowing-breaker.html

Hatco booster heater typically has 2 sets of thermostats and elements located on each end of heater.
Both sides might be controlled by same 60 amp breaker, or the heater might be controlled by two separate 30 amp breakers.
Be sure you have correct wire and breaker.

After reading steps on link above, add comment and say if this is new installation, or older installation that suddenly started throwing breaker.

I have a new furnace and the breaker keeps tripping (20/30). It is a bryant westinghouse box. I think 200 amphes

1) You got a FIRE truck coming.

2) Wire is too small.
Problem is NOT circuit breaker.

3) Both 240Volt appliances on same breaker is a hazard, especially if space available in 200 amp service panel for more breakers.

4) Usually each 240V appliance has separate breaker.

5) Circuit breaker trips because of High heat on the wire.
If wire gets hot, it will start a fire inside the wall.

Electric code requires wire-size match breaker-size.

6) If you put larger amp breaker on same wire that is getting hot, then wire will get hotter.
Result: FIRE truck middle of night with folks jumping out window in glass-cut bare run across yard.

7) Each appliance has volts and watt rating on label.
EVERY appliance has label.

8) For example stove might be rated 8000 watts and 240Volt.
8000 watts divided by 240 volts = 33.3 amps
Stove would require 40 amp breaker and 8 gauge wire.

9) How to figure it out:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Color-codewire.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-a-subpanel.html

10) Do same calculation for new furnace.
12000 watt furnace divided by 240 volts = 50 amps.
Use 60 amp breaker and 6 gauge wire.

11) Summary: fixya wants you to be safe, and buy stuff showing in the ads.
Use a bigger breaker ONLY when bigger wire is also installed.
Call furnace installer, the installer should know to check safe wiring before installing.

I have a heat pump/air conditioner that keeps tripping the breaker when I reset the breaker it soundss like it is sizziling is the 30 amp to small for the unit it is a 13 seer cooling system

Why would you ask about a breaker size?

Has it not been properly installed for the unit
& there for years with no problem?

You must know ,that you would need to see
the wiring diagram for the A/C unit, to check on
the required breaker Amperage

You need to call a service tech to troubleshoot
what has failed on the unit & is tripping the breaker

Bad Compressor or Motor,maybe

I have booster pump on irrigation that keeps tripping regular GFI. Purchased QO115GFIC circuit breaker for panel. Will this alleviate tripping problem?

It may or may not, depending on the root cause of the GFI tripping. If the GFI is faulty (which does happen) then yes. However if you have a problem with the motor or the circuit to the motor then you will still have issues and the GFI was doing it's job.
Since you already purchased one go ahead and install it and see if it works then go from there.
Good luck

I have a square D breaker with shunt trip. The breaker keeps tripping so how do I check the breaker?

A shunt trip breaker operation.

It works just like a normal circuit breaker with one additional function. A shunt-trip breaker also has a built-in magnetic coil that can be energized externally to trip the breaker.

So what is wired to the shunt that is not letting the breaker reset?

I have a Kenmore 300 series elect. dryer that keeps tripping 30 amp breaker. Have already changed breaker wiring going from box to dryer and installed new motor.

Check your load/AMP capacity.
If you have other electrical appliances on ie. Iron, Heater, toaster, Kettle these will contribute to the over loading problem.
Old homes sometimes only have 40-80 amp capacity
