Hotpoint 7822 Dishwasher. The On/Off switch cover is broken and won't stay 'in'. Can I bypass this or is there another solution. It is 18+ yrs old but otherwise works well

can you jb weld it into place get five minute dry jb weld rough up surfaces with sandpaper apply jb weld and tape into place till dry the use touch up pait to blend so it doesnt look jeryy rigged!!!
