Sorry, your motherboard has only 3 PCI expansion slots. The nVidia 8600 series cards are PCI Express cards. They will not work.

Here is a link to several PCI cards at Tiger Direct:

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya.

Im runing a elitegroup a785gm-ad3 with a athlon II x4 and 2x 2gb ddr3 and 2x 1tb hdd and gforce 9500 ddr2 1gb card, the problem I have is when I switch my PC on it gives no picture at all, I've tryed...

when you took the graphics card out did you notice any dust in the socket

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even something as small as a faulty elctrical fan and its lead can cause this problem also the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might have a dirty graphics card remove the graphics card and clean the socket
hope this helps

Motherboard will not post

Turn it off. Remove the AC power-cord.
Disconnect all the devices (floppy, disk-drive, CD-drive).
Remove any add-on PCI cards (modem, network, TV, 2nd video).
Remove ALL the RAM.
Reconnect the power, and turn it on.
Try to POST -- if it is not "dead", it should "beep" a few times, due to having _NO_ RAM installed.
Turn it off.
Remove the AC power-cord.
Add ONE stick of RAM.
Connect the AC power-cord.
Turn it on.
Same "beeps"? Different? No beeps?

Graphix

Sorry, the card doesn't allocate 2GB of memory into it... It most likely has 256MB and that is on the card and cant be changed, but as its integrated in this laptop you can go into the setup / computer bios to see if you can change the amount of memory allocated for it.

Graphix card on acer travelmate 6492

hi ken, give the laptop a 2GB RAM upgrade and you will be able to play any computergames that date from 2006 and 2007,
exchanging the graphic card it no option as it is onboard.some 3d features may not work with your graphixcard.
for gaming you definitely will have to have directx9.0 installed.
when getting a pc-game make sure your system meets them minimum requirements of your laptop,
to find out more about it, get the freeware 'pcwizard2008' program
from the net, it'll tell you all you need to know in detail about your laptop's hardware and software.

happy gaming, gta4 will work slowly!
