Sub Shuts off after only being up half volume

I am running a 10 inch Type R sub, and just recently I bought the iDA-X001 Ipod Deck, and twice I have had it on a volume around half and the Sub just cuts out, the first time ity happened, the sub just came back on by itself a few hours later, the second time (right now actually) it hasn't come back on yet...any suggestions?, I checked the fuses on the amp itself and they are good, the wiring looks good to, I figure it has something to do with the new deck, but I am not sure.

Try to check your speakers. check the pigtail, maybe it is disconnecting from the cone or from the connector. then after that, resolder it.

I just recently bought a brand new MTX magnum amp and dual 10" enclosed subs deal off of amazon. They arrived today, and with the help of a friend who is good with car audio systems, we set the whole

the best thing to do is get in touch with amazon, and see what they can do about it,if you try to fix the problem yourself it will invalidate the garantee!

Ok i got a mtx 12' 500 sub matched to a alpine mrd-m500 mono amp. The deck powers the 4 speakers, as i turn the volume up on my deck (alpine cde 100) the sub/amp cuts out at around volume 20-22 and E-3...

Sorry, after rereading your problem,I gave a wrong answer.Do you have the deck sub RCA pre-amps connected to the amp, then the wires from the amp to the sub?If you do,you need to check what the sub and amp are rated as such as,peak or rms. They are 2 completely different meanings.Greg

I have a jl 500.1 and a 8w7. The sub is playing but not really it will play sometimes but most of the time i am getting almost nothing. Am i using the wrong settings or a bad connection or blown sub?

Sounds like a bad rca connection. You need both rca jacks to be plugged in from your head unit, both left and right or you will not have full power you'll have half power to your sub/subs. Check your sub with a volt meter and see what it reads. Make sure if your head unit has a sub volume make sure it's turned up. Alot of people don't realize they have a seperate subwoofer volume on there deck and it's set to low, so check that. You could have bad rca cables. If all that is ruled out(best way by trying a different amp) the amp itself might be having problems. Don't think it would be in protect mode either.
Let me know if you have'nt allready.

Legacy LA770 worked for 2 10" subs but not for 1 12" sub

if the protect light is still on with all speakers disconected then you have overloaded the internal ic and blown it beyound its ability to reset

Alpine PDX1.600 amp cuts off

Make sure there's no missmatched impedance. If your sub running 2 ohms then your amp has to be 2 ohms stable. Does the amp blow fuses or get really hot? If it does it can be a fire hazard and I would recommend taking it out of your car. It could be that you don't have sufficient grounding. The grounding needs to be very close to the amp and the paint needs to be thoroughly scratched off. Otherwise could be a blown transistor within the amplifier, you can check this by opening up the amp, running a multimeter and testing the transistors for resistance.

Car audio

Most likely the RCA's are running from the sub out on the deck to the amp. You need to run two sets of RCA's for a 4 channel amp. One for the sub out and one to the front or rear channel.

Hope this helps.

I bought a 500/1 jl audio amp and also a w7 10 sub

if its cutting off and right back on then check your ground and your power wire makes sure both are connected good and none of your fuse's are blown, either that or you got a wire hooked up backwards in the sub.. but my guess is that the sub is hooked up wrong... that sub should be hooked up in a series or in parallel,

ok if your running just one speaker, it should be hooked up like this and 2 speakers are a different way...

this is parallel :pos to pos , neg to neg, then one wire coming from pos on sub to pos on amp then neg on sub to neg on amp but bridge the amp on your amp should be 2 pos and 2 neg in two different channels take the pos off the sub into the pos on 1 channel and then the neg from sub to the neg on the other channel,

this is series : on the sub it will go pos to neg then the other neg and pos will go to the amp, but make sure the pos and neg r on different sides of the sub, dont hook them both to the same coil

if your need more help give me your email and ill send you a pic of how to do it...

Weak output from sub..

The woofer was not demagnetized.

If one signal cable is damaged, it could reduce the signal getting to the amplifier and could reduce the output.

Plug one RCA plug in at a time to confirm that both are working properly. If one is lower or not working, the cable may be defective.

If both work properly, double-check the settings on the head unit (sub-out, bass, crossover frequency...)

Power Protection Circuit (SORT) Engaged

Umm a ohm meter would help you here. Double check the wires from the sub to the amp...make sure its not shorting out. Try starting the amp without the wires on the terminals...if the protection shows up then there is a short inside the unit and it will need to be replaced/repaired.
