I would plug a MAC compatible keyboard into a USB socket.
Download the latest OS version.
If that does not cure it, send it to a MAC authorised repairer for a new keyboard.
Have you tried opening Apple Mail? The icon looks like a postage stamp with an eagle on it. If you setup your mail through Apple's preferences then it would be in there.
