I have a Dell Inspiron b130. The DSL connection is dropped way too often. Mostly when I navigate to a new page via a link. The modem (comtrend CT-5071T) has to be power cycled to regain connection. It has to be recycled every time I restart the computer. Of course the ISP claims the problem is on my end. could this be a firewall problem or ethernet card/port problem with the laptop? Thanks in advance for your input....JT

- How do I check the modem? All the proper led lights are lit. The ISP techs say that if the lights work the modem works.
This could even be the Dsl modem loosing internet sync, They will tell you its you're end and thats fine check the modem, it also could be the ethernet cards going into standby Thus turning off the wake on lan feature in bios or other software would provent the card from going to sleep.

- Lights are not the problem here even tho there lit that does not mean you not loosing connection to your ethernet cards and so forth, I would suggest trying a packet loss at www.dslreports.com if you got packet loss or you got ethernet idle or time outs then check the modem by getting another modem from the isp then work your way down to the cards in the systems but it not going to be two seprate computers with same problem this would be absurd I would R/o modem Rule out modem first!!
