You have a problem with your defrost system, unplug appliance - remove panel from back of freezer, test defrost heater, if heater good test defrost thermostat - replace bad part....if this is too technical call a repair guy...should cost between $120 - $200 to fix depending on which part is bad.

Hotpoint Future fridge freezer - freezer working well but top of the back of the fridge has a large build up of ice ??? And doesn't appear to be keeping the food cold enough

here are lots of things that can cause cooling problems. One of the most common causes of poor cooling in a frost free refrigerator is a defrost system failure. In such a case one or the other compartment may appear to be keeping proper temperature but that too may change in a short period of time. The fridge compartment's temperature rise is usually (but not always) the first to be noticed. Frost" and "Ice"
There is a difference between "frost" (a white, snow-like substance) and "ice" (usually clear and solid). When referring to what is seen during an inspection, please keep this distinction in mind as the possible causes for each are often very different. The Defrost System
Inspecting the (usually rear) wall of the freezer compartment for a frost build up is necessary. (In the case of many GE top freezer models, check the freezer's bottom panel.) If there is a frost coating on it, it is often a sign of excessive frosting beneath it. Sometimes however the evaporator cover panel will actually need to be removed (see the illustration below) before an excessive frost build will visible.
The refrigeration system's evaporator (cooling) coil is usually in the freezer compartment. This evaporator will periodically frost over and have to be defrosted by means of a heating system. When the defrost heating system fails, the frost can accumulate to such a degree that airflow throughout the appliance is hampered. There may be just enough air circulation to cool the freezer section but that will eventually stop too.

My Samsung RB195BSSB bottom freezer model has recently developed an issue. The freezer will warm up to 21 degrees and not hold the previous temperature. Fridge is fine. Ice maker may not be making ice...

This sounds like there is a build up of ice on the evaporator. this will block the air flow and allow temperatures to rise.
The problem could be with;
\ the defrost timer
\ defrost heater
A technician can solve this for you

Alarm won't stop beeping

Door left open or temp is too warm. most I found is heavy ice build up on freezer evaporator, very easy to tell, pull out one of the drawer and look on the back wall, it should not have any ice on it (a little frost is OK). It may be bad Evaporator sensor, Evaporator fan motor is not running, door evaporator fan reed switch installed upside down, bad connection on defrost heater connector, bad defrost heater element, open heater HI limit switch, open gap on door gasket and compressor never stop running. If no ice build up and compressor is running but temp is rising then it may be sealed system problem. Good Luck.

Fridge not cooling. Temperature rising

most common problem is the defrost timer motor,it tells the fridge to de ice ,about every 10 hrs or so,if it gets stuck or burns out your evaporator will be a block of ice ,and the fan blowing on it wont transfer cold air, look in the bottom of the fridge by the compressor,

SubZero fridge problems

Ice buildup on the back left wall is the sign of an evaporator leak. Not something you can fix yourself, at some point it is going to be completely out of gas, I would call for service now

Freezer in nice and cold but refridgerator is not

due to lots of moisture in the air or high humidity it creates extra frost in the freezing unit this creates blockage in the air flow once the ice crystals build up. the freezer is what keeps the fridge at the normal temperature if the air flow between the two are blocked in the ducting then the fridge temperature will rise the best way to solve this is to open the freezer take out the 4 screws in the back panel tilt the panel forward and blow it with a blow dryer till the ice chunk has melted its a good idea to use a towel and on the top self of the fridge to obsorb excess water this can be kinda messy. or you can unplug your fridge for about 6 or so hours. good luck hope i helped. :)

My fridge freezer made by samsung is on the blink

These fridges have an evaporator fan motor on both sides - the freezer and fridge side. The freezer can maintain it's temperature because that fan is working fine. I had the same problem, and replaced the evaporator fan motor on fridge side, and it solved the problem. Also, if your fan motor is not working well, or stops working, the evaporator is prone to ice build up, and will prevent proper cooling. You may want to open up panel on fridge side and see if that's the case. Taking a blow dryer to the evaporator and surrounding area (while fridge is off), or letting it sit for a few hours might solve the problem. Ultimately though, it appears as if these fan motors are prone to failure, and need to be replaced.

Fridge stopped working

don't know your make or model so this is general. also bear in mind i am in UK not US so may not be familiar with your appliance
back plate i refer to is inside freezer and is usually held in with a few screws or plastic clips. it is normally easily removable. you will then see evaporator pipework and fan.
there are many arrangements but the usual is a single fan at the top. this fan is used to drive cold air round the freezer with some of the cold air going to the fridge.
the usual problems are.
fan jammed by ice build up - this can be preceeded by a noisy fan when the blades are hitting ice
excessive ice build up on the evaporator pipework which causes poor airflow and hence temps rise. a temporary cure is to melt the ice off with a hairdryer

take backplate off and let me know what you find

SAMSUNG RS253BAWW NOT WORKING

the ice maker wont cycle untill the temp of the ice is around 10 degrees so if the freezer is at 15 or 20 due to some other malfunction then you will see the maker full of ice but it wont harvest and make another batch. so you could have a sensor bad, control malfunction, refrigeration issue, compressor, defrost system malfunction(you mentioned ice build up)
