First go into the BIOS when you first turn onto your computer. See if its located in there, if it is then that means you might have a virus on your computer and you'll have to run a scan.
If you don't see the cd/dvd drive in the BIOS then turn off the laptop.
Take out the drive and then reseat it back into its slot. After this turn on the laptop and go into the BIOS, if its in there then you know its being recognzied. Then let it boot back into windows and if its in there then its fixed, if its still not fixed then run a virus scan and see if it finds any viruses.
If you go into the BIOS and you still don't see the drive then that means the drive is bad and you'll have to replace it.
If you still see the drive in the BIOS and not in windows and a virus program doesn't help the problem. Then at this point save everything that you need onto a flash drive and restore your computer back to factory defaults cause that means you have corrupt system files in the operating system.

- Your very welcome. For sure you did everything. Go get the drive replaced then and just make sure the jumper setting on the back of the drive is set to either master or cable select. Wish you the best and please rate me when you get the chance.
