Weider Platinum 600 resistance stuck on high and can't be lowered

The resistance can only be adjusted up and stays that way, even if unplugged then replugged. Cannot be adjusted down. When I adjust the resistance, I can hear movement of the cables. The instant I pull on the cables (to work out), the display goes right back to 10 which is the minimum; but the actual resistance stays the same. As you might imagine, there is no way for me to tell what the actual resistance on my machine is right now since the display is inaccurate. Also, being a tiny young woman - the resistance is stuck too high for me to do any workouts, rendering the machine practically useless. Please help me, guys. I'd really appreciate any troubleshooting and/or parts replacement suggestions. Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: Weider Platinum Crossbow is locked up.

i have the manual, to recalibrate the machine press and hold the next button and the motorized wieght adjustment+ button for five seconds. when the buttons are released, a number will appear in the reps display. press the next button again, then press the motorized weight adjustment+ button: this should start the reclaibration process. i am lucky i bought the machine in 10-2004 and it has a ten year warrenty. it isn't working it happened before and they had to replace the motor. if it works remembe to unplug the machine when not in use. it is a great machine to get in shape with. you just have to use it.

What can I find an exercise chart for a Weider 8525?

The single-station Weider 8525 home gym features a full range of attachments for duplicating almost any exercise you'd perform on a gym machine. You adjust resistance for each exercise by sliding a selector pin into a stack of weight plates. But the disadvantage of having so many features and possible exercises packed into a single workout station is that you might have to make a few mechanical adjustments as you transition between exercises.

1. Leg Exercises
The 8525 has a leg lever, attached to the front of the seat, which you can use for doing leg curls and leg extensions. These classic gym exercises isolate your hamstrings and quads respectively. The Weider 8525 doesn't have the leg press platform or squat lever you'll find on some home gyms, but if you remove the seat, preacher pad and leg lever you can use the low pulley for doing squats.

2. Chest Exercises
The Weider 8525 has two major attachments for working your chest: A press arm for doing chest presses, and butterfly arms for doing pec flyes. You can also use the high and low pulley stations for doing incline or decline single-arm chest presses.

3. Back Exercises and Pulleys
The Weider 8525 has a lat tower and high pulley for doing lat pulldowns. You can also use the tower and pulley for high rows. The low pulley is ideal for a variety of back exercises including more row variations, Romanian deadlifts, shrugs and upright rows. In fact, the ability to attach different handles allows you to adapt both pulleys to work for almost any major muscle group in your body. However, the Weider 8525 lacks a mid-level pulley that would make this equipment even more versatile.

4. Arm Exercises
The Weider 8525 home gym has an angled preacher pad to support your elbows as you do preacher curls -- but you need free weights to provide resistance during the curls. You can use the 8525's resistance if you remove the seat, preacher pad and leg lever -- and use the low pulley for doing biceps curls. Your triceps work during chest presses, but you can also isolate them with a variety of pushdown exercises using the high pulley.

My weider platinum home gym will not adjust weight- the resistance buttons increase and decrease, but the motor will not run

It sounds like the motor is burned out or the connections form the switch, or to the motor are bad. You'll need to troubleshoot with a voltage meter.

I just bought a used machine and the weight adjustment is inaccurate. I have to put it up to over 200 lbs resistance in order to get maybe 40 lbs despite what the machine reads. Is there something I can...

If you find the manual (quick online search) on page 23 there is a section under "RECALIBRATE THE MACHINE" .

Basically: Plug it in. Hold down the "Next" and "Resistance +" buttons together for 5+ seconds and release; some text will appear on the main display. Press "Next" again followed by pressing the "Resistance +" button again. The system should 'calibrate', you'll hear it moving thru the resistance lowest to highest (or vice versa). After it finishes it beeps or displays or both, unplug the system. When you plug it back up hopefully it fixes the problem.

WEIDER PLATINUM CABLE MOTOR HAS STOPPED WORKING

Hello there. I have seen this problem on a number of occasions. The problem is usually the lower wire harness. One of the wires will break going to a limit switch and disable the motor.
If you would like information on the part you can find it at iconservice.com in the replacement parts section by entering the model number (usually located under the seat) and then locating the lower wire harness. The replacement procedure is rather lengthy! If you do not have patience please have a professional do it for you.
Good Luck! Tim

I have a Weider Platinum crossbow and the resistance isn't setting properly if at all. Is there a simple solution that I can do to fix this?

This is a common problem with this machine, the wiring inside the back. Mine was broken too, it was just a loose wire, but the stupid wire is so inside a protective case, you have to take the whole machine apart to be able to reach it.

You'll need a technician to come to your home. Call Icon to get a reference.

My Weider XP800 will increase in resistance but will not decrease

There is a wire that Breaks that is attached to a limit switch that is located inside the elbow of the Pivot arm. If looking from the Back of the Machine, it is on the RIGHT side. I extended the wire an rerouted it to run on the outside of the pivot arm to avoid be nicked or pinced by the moving parts.
