Question about Mitsubishi WD-62725 62" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

I thought the lamp had gone out on my Mitsubishi WD-62825G but after replacing the bulb (2 times) I figure it?s something more as the red light comes on instead of the TV. Called out A+ as they said they could repair over the phone but they clearly didn?t know this TV and just wanted to take it to their (A) shop. They took the bulb out (after I showed them where it was) and put it back in but did no tests. Said $500 to $900 and was talking about a power supply or main chassis but didn?t sound like they knew what they were doing. I got a written estimate but looks like a child wrote it. I wanted it fixed in house and quick, is that asking too much? what?s the procedure for this? what should i expect? any help appreciated!

If is not under warranty then you should buy a new tv. i had 3 lamps, 1 light engine, and they are currently rebuilding the chasis for the second time. i got my tv in 12/04 and got the 5 yearextended warranty THANK GOD! they are spending more time/money to keep repairing this pos than its worth. they could have gotten me a new model and saved everone the hassle. i would not recommend repairing it.
good luck

Mitsubishi wd 60735 dlp tv red lamp light

A common issue and it may be your problem is dust and dirt inside the unit---the set intakes air from the front and exhausts it out the rear==I have seen several of these sets where removing rear cover and taking stthe set outside and blowing it with a air compressor clears the issue.

Fans and other critical items that get clogged or coated with a moderate amount of dust will cause this issue.

Mitsubishi WD-62531 Replaced lamp 2 weeks ago. Red light flashing again. Same problem but the lamp is fine. Sound but no picture.

You have either a bad ballast (it powers the lamp) or a bad DMD board. Either one of those will result in a no lamp fire issue. Have a technician look at it...

if you used an OEM lamp rather than an original ,it may have gone out. The more expensive original bulbs last longer

Replaced bulb in Mitsubishi WD-52525 and it still does not work

Press the input/device button and the menu button at the same time. Green LED will blink a two digit code blink 1st digit short pause blink 2nd digit longer pause and repeat. Any number of problems can cause this same symptom.

If the red LED your refering to is the Status LED and not the Lamp LED then you have big problems. A red Status LED indicates no communication from the Format board to the DMD board (light engine). 1/2 the time caps on the format board itself the other 1/2 must send entire electronics package to Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi WD-52327 52 in. Rear Projection DLP

I have a 2 year old Mitsubishi Rear Projection 52" model WD-52525. I recently experienced the same problem as you. My TV quit without any warning and the red lamp light came on. I bought a replacement lamp just like you did, did everything you did too, but it still didn't work either. Since it's past the 1 yr warranty (of course), I took it in to an authorized service center for an estimate. They determined the light engine failed and it will cost me $816.35 to repair. I already shelled out $240+ for a lamp, $48 for the repair estimate and I said "hell" no, I'm not going to fix it for another $800+ and bought a new TV. I'm writing a letter to Mitsubishi expressing my deep dissatisfaction (to put it mildly) with this faulty product and will be requesting reimbursement, which I probably won't get. I sincerely hope this is not the same problem your TV has, but if it is be prepared for a costly fix.
