SOURCE: my Canon P23-DH calculator is printing out weird symbols

I also have a Canon P23-DH 111 that is printing strange symbols. This has happened after an electrical storm.
I contacted Canon Support and they verified that the board inside has been corrupted by a power surge.
I now have a new Canon P23-DH V and I invested in a surge protector.
My grandaughter is playing with the old machine.

Look at the rubber numbers inside the machine. They are probably clogged with ink (at least mine was). I researched and could not find a specific answer, finally I asked how to remove ink from your hands. Everyone said use bleach. I tried clorax 2 bleach on the rubber numbers wiped it clean and let it air dry. Worked like a charm!!! This might not be the proper way but it's working.

How do you change ink on a canon p20-dh calculator

For accounting offices and stores, calculators that produce a printed paper are indispensable. Canon's desktop or commercial printing calculators use ribbon tape, and you'll need to change the ribbon when it is used up. All Canon desktop and commercial printing calculators use the same method for changing the ribbon.
  • Turn off the calculator.
  • Pull up on the tab on the far side of the printer cover to remove the cover.
  • Pinch together the ribbon lock (the arrow shows you the direction to pinch). Lift the ribbon spools off the shafts and discard them.
  • Separate the new ribbon spools. Guide the ribbon tape around the four guiding pegs and set the spools on the shafts. The spools should be peg side down.
  • Rotate the spools so the peg at the bottom of the spool goes into the hole of the spool holder. Release the ribbon locks.
  • Rotate the spools to make the ribbon taut, keeping the ribbon positioned around the guide pegs.
  • Replace the printer cover and turn the calculator on.

When I print the numbers come out faded, I changed the ribbon is there a way to fix this?

Your ribbon is not seated properly. I would look to make sure you have fed it through all of the guides properly. If this is not a snap in cartridge then I would make sure that the ribbon is feeding the right way and is not upside down.

Could it be you are using old ribbons? Are you using the correct ribbons?
did you put in the ribbon correct and is the ribbon transported, while it is printing, or is it stuck in the calculator. Just some questions to check out.

The ribbon will only print red ink

While in the D position or PD position, N Count
is OFF. In the N Count N position every
Plus, Minus, Equals Plus, Equals Minus,
Memory Plus or Memory Minus key depression
is counted. The Accumulator and its N Count
or the GT N Count can be printed by
depression of the Subtotal or Total key. When
either Memory Subtotal or Memory Total is
depressed, Memory N Count will print. N Count
is always printed in red, left justified. If the
Equals key is depressed immediately after the
Subtotal Total, Memory Subtotal, or Memory
Total the average of the entries is printed.
When the N Count prints on the 7150, an audit
symbol will print to the left of the N Count.
The audit NA will identify the Accumulator
register N Count, NG will identify the GT
register N Count and NM will identify the
Memory N Count.

I have a TA Adler-Royal 1123 PD nova printing calculator. (It is very old.) The numbers printed on the tape are very faint. Do I need a new ribbon or something else? Is there such a thing as an ink...

Hi,
You need a new ribbon.
Older or much older desk top calculators used a small sized ribbon such as the old typewriters used except that the reels were about 1 inch across. Often they were divided into a red and black side.
It the calculator had all of the numbers strike the paper at the same instant, then it would use an
ribbon.
Here is a link to an Amazon.com page that sells the correct ribbon for your calculator.

PRINT COLOR

Hi...it appears that the ribbon is on upside down..The black has to be on the top and the red on the bottom. Just switch spools and turn the ribbon over..either that or there is a spring off the ribbon platform solenoid on the right side of the printer just below where the ribbon comes off the spool. If the spring is off or broken the ribbon platform will rise too high and print in red. Remotely the solenoid (little blue thing) could be bad or out of adjustment.
Hope this helps..this is usually all it can be.
