hi,

somewhere there is a "knockout" or "plug" or something similar you have to remove or replace it to get it to drain through the hose, there should be some documentation in the owners manual about it, try troubleshooting in the back of the manual. If not look directly into the hose outlet and see if theres a plastic plug there, if there is use a screwdriver or something similar to GENTLY remove the plug, you may have to just study the machine when its running to get a better idea of how the water drains, maybe the machine came with something like it in one of the plastic bags the accessories came in.

good luck

SOURCE: The dehumidifier runs but no waster is coming out

Frank it sounds like to me that it needs to be shut off a while, Was there a power outage or did you happen to shut it off and try to restart it real fast. If so then the compressor can not push the freon through. let it sit for about 8 to 10 minutes so the pressure drops and then restart it. Otherwise it will just burn up the compressor

SOURCE: A one year old Kenmore dehumidifier model

these units are notorious for losing their refrigerant charge,if the compressor isn't running that is one reason why, have a gauge put on the system to see sealed system pressures otherwise the low-pressure switch could be bad,you can test this with a continuity meter

My kenmore model # 580.5450.1801 runs, but does not produce water. It is a humid basement, and another unit is working.

Turn the unit on and verify the compressor is running. If it is let it run for 3-5 min then unplug and plug it back in. If the compressor comes back on immediately there is a leak and the system needs serviced. If the compressor is not running further investigation to narrow down the cause is necessary. If the dehum is out of warranty replacement is the better option when sealed system repairs are needed.

Dehumidifer runs for about 45sec to 1minute and then shuts off. wqhat would be making this happen

If it does that consistently, then it's likely that the compressor is overheating and shutting down. (It has a thermal overload circuit to prevent a potential fire). Another cause could be a malfunction of the control circuit board which runs all functions of the unit. To check for possible compressor problem, unplug the unit, remove the housing to expose the compressor, plug it back in and power it up. When it shuts down, feel the compressor. It should be warm to the touch, but definitely not so hot that it singes your fingers.

If you find that the compressor is just normal warm, then the control circuit board is shot and needs to be replaced. Check with the merchant or manufacturer for availability & cost. If prohibitive, you're better off simply replacing that unit with a new one.

I'm working on mine right now as we speak with the same problem , it runs for 3-4 minutes and then drops out and what I think I have found is the compressor comes on but the fan that blows over the condensor/evaporator assemblies never turns on ! I tore the covers of mine and put a volt meter across the orange and black wires (with the unit on high ) , on the little white plug in the metal box on a pc board , that all the wires go into and with the comressor off just before it starts on power up I have 122vac (volts ac) and then the compressor kicks in and it drops to about 107 vac but no fan action so I'm getting on line to order a motor assembly Kenmore # 4681A20040K ! I just happened across this site so I hope It works for me and helps you !

Humidity buttons don't seem to work.

the control board is a very simple design and it is to signal and switch options like fan speed, power on/off, humidity up/down and sets the on/off run time. Like above the board does collect dust, but the true problem runs deeper.

My unit was stuck in run mode with the fan speed, humidity and run timmer non functioning. the unit worked and the power switch turned it on and off. The display said ON

I removed the front cover (two screws) and slight pressure on the side of the cover to remove it. This exposes the control board. The control board can be removed by removing the 6 screws on the board. the cable can then be removed by pulling out the multi-pin ribbon cable.

I diagnosed that only two of the 5 push button switched were functioning. There was also dust and mold on the board. This board is poorly protected from the moist air entering the unit and the constand moisture causes corrosion on the board, the switched seem to be the weak link.

By using a multi meter I noted that only the power switch and the humidity down button were making contact when pressed. Now it all came together. I could turn it on and off. and if you press the humidity down button to the lowers setting (ON) means run all the time.

I used a elecronic contact cleaner and sprayed it into each of the switches. I wiggled it around and blew it out with canned air. It took a few wiggles and blasts but all switched then made contact. I the board back on and tested all functions and it was like new. The contact cleaner should keep it protected for a while. The non functioning of the switches works both ways. They can stick on also. This would explain most of the other control problems. These switched are common and can be picked up at Radio Shack. On a do-it-yourself bananna scale it was a 2 for me, but I had the tools and the spray. I am not sure what sears gets for the PC control board, but this is the issue and if they were to address this the unit complaints would drop greatly.

The main switch is broken off and it does not turn on

You have to remove the entire wrapper to get to the control circuit board, make sure you unplug unit!! Locate the small white wires that plug into the board and go to the humidity switch.Unplug the connector at the board and plug the machine in and see if everything runs. ps make sure you reinstall the bucket or unit will not run. If machine runs replace that humidity control. The plug on the board is usually white. The other white wire is 4 the light. I hope this helps./

DH30 Dehumidifier Compressor Does not Operate

I just picked one up at a tag sale, seller said it worked sometimes. Seems to have the same problem as yours. I took the time to tweak all of the connections and then re-soldered the control board with no luck. I finally disconnected the humidity control and it worked fine. By disconnecting the humidity control the unit defaults to it's highest setting and you have to unplug the unit to turn it off. Conclusion so far is that the humidity control rheostat is bad.
Note: Now while running the fan runs continuously and the compressor cycles on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. This may to be normal since the unit appears to be doing its job and I'm not sure how it is supposed to run since a purchased it broken.

Will not shut off

My unit is a Fedders A7DH65B2A and your Maytag unit was made by Fedders and is just like mine w/ different label... I've purchased two of these units (one for me & one for my father-in-law) and they both quit pulling moisture from the air (but ran constantly) about 1 month past the 1yr warranty. My unit also acted really strange one day when the problem was occurring - it flashed on & off erratically and wouldn't power off unless I pulled the power cord. In short, I took it apart and found several issues and eventually figured out the chain of events that led to this: 1) The thermistor went bad and the unit could no longer sense when the evaporator coil started freezing up (normal situation that the unit should detect & then do a defrost cycle). As a result, the evaporator coil turned itself into a big chunk of ice (can see by removing the air filter and looking into that slot at the coil (looks like a radiator). 2) the big block of ice on the coil grew large enough to start making contact with part of the plastic housing above the evap coil that's used for the power control circuit board. The plastic in that area then got ice all over it and since it looks like a little tray, it will hold water (when the ice thaws) and then the power control board will be sitting in a puddle of water (or ice - either will cause malfuntions like not being able to turn the power off using the front panel switch). 3) the puddle of water in the power control board tray caused this circuit board to corrode (happens very quickly when the unit is plugged in since electricity accelerates this kind of thing...). So... a poor quality thermistor (this straps to the bottom right side of the copper pipe that loops out & back in to the evap coil and has a wire coming out of if) caused premature defrost circuit failure. This caused a big block of ice to form where it shouldn't be. The ice caused condensation/moisture/ice to form on/under the power control circuit board and corroded the circuit board and caused erratic power control issues. RepairClinic.com had a replacement sensor board (included all sensors - yes, the thermistor too...) so I purchased it (~$40) and used only the new thermistor off of it to plug into my original sensor board (and strapped it back to the evap coil w/ the chrome looking clip that was already there). Problem fixed! Well, almost... I did have to clean the corrosion off my power control board as well, but it survived luckily. After doing this to mine, my father-in-laws unit experienced similar symptoms. I did the same fix to his and presto... fixed. Cheap low quality thermistors on these units. I need to find a higher quality replacement thermistor before round 2 happens on each unit. Good luck!
