It is wired up so that it is not turned off by the ignition switch. Some cars are wired up this way. Some people put wiring on purpose to have the radio mot go through the ignition.

What make , model an year vehicle ? Check fuse's ? Relays . Looking at a wiring diagram to see where power (battery + ) comes from . Pull the radio an check power an ground at the radio connector .
Swap the battery and accessory lead positions in the ISO header plug.
This is easily done by pressing the pins out from the plug side using a
fine bladed screwdriver.
_MANY_ cars have these 2 wired the "wrong" way in their radio socket. It's far easier to move the radio's wires than the cars.
Once you've done this your bluetooth will probably sort itself out too.
what you may do is....turn the car off and then turn the radio on..
don't do anything with the car for one hour. meaning leave the radio on
for one full hour and the radio itself will reset itself. the radio
will turn off.turn the radio on..on the radio it will say...
BOSE..press and hold both button RDS and FM2 until the radio resets to
0000 ..then enter in your code..once you enter your code press and hold
the two buttons again..this will work...
I have the SAME EXACT problem. I thought it was the radio - bought another - went to change the units - heard an electrical arc - now the car cranks but doesn't start and the new radio doesn't work either!!! (not that it matters anyway) Is there an electrical problem with '96 Lincoln's. Where should I start to diagnose the non-starting issue?
first of all if you live in a cold climate I never turn the radio on until the car warms up if you can remove the knob on the radio spray a light amount of WD 40 and then put the knob back on and turn it back and forth and if you have pop on your hand or water also dry your hands off before touching the radio the lights and the radio will last a lot longer also and also before leaving the car always remember to turn the radio off it will be alot easier on your battery as well
This worked for me (radio in 2003 VW Golf):
Radio says "CHECK" but is otherwise unresponsive. Turning car or radio on/off doesn't help.
On the far right of the radio, there's a round TUNER button. Press it for 5 seconds. Your screen will then show some digits, but the unit is still unresponsive.
Press tuner button again for 5 seconds. Radio should now be 100% again. Let me know if this works for you.
