The LCD is bad which is why you have that yellow bad it would have to be replaced. To verify this go ahead and hook up a known good working monitor to the computer. If the band goes away then you know the original monitor is bad.

If the band is still there even with the new monitor the the video card is bad and the video card would have to be replaced.

At the same time make sure the pins on the cable aren't bent as that can cause problems as well.

I have a 2001FP Dell LCD monitor with an intermittent 2" wide gray stripe down the middle (you can see through it) that I was told was a back light failure. Is that true? If so, what is the correct...

Bad lamps will either does not light up or have pinkish color. More likely to be T-CON board, check out the connection between the T-CON board and the Logic board. If the lines are vertical lines from the top of the screen to the botom of the screen, then that will be bad T-CON board and not much you can do, new LCD panel will be needed.

I have a 2inch wide band down middle of screen on

1) Have you installed new drivers or software or drivers? If so, remove them and restart the computer.
2) Try applying pressure with your fingers on top of the screen. If the band dissapears or dimishes, you may have a broken screen and it will need to be replaced.

Dell 2001FP vertical band issue

I'm having the same problem... there's also going to be about 5 years of dust sitting in there, so I hoping it might just be a failure of convective cooling. My first attempt to remove the bezel was unsuccessful, so I wasn't able to go in and look for any swollen capacitors or such. I have blown canned air in the sides, and it's actually doing a little better right now. Probably won't last... having a rather warm summer.

My monitor has a yellow line running down the middle

This is a bad LCD panel. If it is still under warranty, your best bet is to have it replaced again. The only fix is to replace the actual panel and that would cost more than a new monitor.

Vertical band of green pixels 1-2" wide when monitor heats up

Sounds like you have some pixals going bad.
It could be heat related check to see if its under warrantee. Most screens have a 3 year on them.
Not sure about Dells.

Hiii fairley,

You aren't specsificly dercribe yor tv set.
For common TV horizontal problem ;i.e : White line accross the horizontal screen, horizontal band,etc..it's can solved by replacing the IC Vertical/Transistor, and olso to replace the cap nearest the IC.

For common TV Vertical Problem :i.e : White line at the center of the screen (top to bottom),Vertical band,etc...It's can cure by Replacing the Horizontal IC/Transistor,and offcurse the cap's.

Tha's what all I know....

Hope can help you to solved the problem.

Connect Digital and Analog cables at the same time.Any use?

does not help. keep dvi connector (white one) on computer and in the back of monitor.
and surely it will not take away those vertical stripes.
those vert stripes... hmm... your monitor might have a problem which you can't fix by your own.

Vertical lines on left half of screen

The problem is the driver tabs that go from the panel controller board to the panel itself.

This is normally a fatal failure since having it repaired is extremely expensive.
