What does DVD recording error E6 mean?

Magnavox Digital Video Disc Recorder & Video Cassette Recorder model ZV427MG9 A.

What does DVD recording error E6 mean? Manual page N33 shows some of the error message meanings but E6 is not detailed. All it says is Error numbers E1-22 and E37-39 means "Recording error other than below". That's no help at all. Any ideas what error E6 means?

Thanks, Kitty

Ensure that your source is correct. L1 is the rear inputs and L2 is the front inputs. If you have it set to L2 then you have no information from the TV getting to the recorder.

SOURCE: this program is not recordable in +vr mode

This means exactly that these are copy Once only, meaning you can not make it copy say 10 copies, at the same time, it means you must do one a at a time. If you wanted say 10 copies, you must do the entire process over and over.

My Magnavox Digital Disc Recorder & Video Cassette Recorder will not play DVD-RW discs. How can I solve this problem or get a replacement unit.

It claims to play -RWs finalized in DVD-VIDEO format, not VR. If a disc is recorded/finalized on a different recorder, not all players can play it. This is the price we pay for the convenience of the digital system.

How can I record a music cassette to a music disc on my Magnavox DVD recorder/ VHS --Model # ZV427MG9

You can't burn a CD-A with the ZV427MG9. The unit will not burn to a CD to play in a CD player.

You may be able to record the audio to a DVD with no video source. Connect your cassette player to the Line In audio ports (L/R) at either the back or front of the unit. Depending on your cassette player, you may need a 3.5 mm M to RCA F/F adapter to connect the RCA audio cable to the cassette player's headphone jack. Do not connect a cable to the video input of the composite input unless you have a video on a camera or something to play back. This means that the recorded video may say "No Signal" or will be black or static. (Note: this may not work with this signal issue.)

Set the unit to record to DVD on L1 or L2, as needed, by pressing Source on your remote. Advance the cassette to where you want to record. Press Rec on the DVD unit and then press Play on your cassette player. If you want to identify tracks, Stop the recording and play back and then press Rec and Play again. You are at risk of having issues with the volume during the recording. Clipping of overly-loud sounds and distortion is possible.

When done, finalize the disc, if desired, to play the disc on other DVD players.

If you want to make an audio CD, you would be better off using a computer and connecting the cassette player to the Line In jack of the computer. You do have to make some adjustments to avoid recording the default Microphone input. Use a program like Audacity or any other audio editing program. Record the signal and divide it into tracks, if needed. Now you can filter out any distortion as well. Then save as a WAV file. Use a different program to burn the WAV files to a CD-A. (This must be burned as a mastered disc; my attempts that worked on an older CD player failed if there were gaps between the tracks. Lots of programs will do this; Roxio Creator is one option.)

The manual for the ZV427MG9 is available here: http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/z/zv427mg9_f7/zv427mg9_f7_dfu_aen.pdf .

I hope this helps.

How do I connect the Magnavox to my cable?

If you are talking about the Magnavox ZV427MG9, this unit is a Digital Video Disc Recorder and Cassette Recorder. There are no connections for the RF cable (analog) that is normally connected to the back of the TV from the cable company or satellite receiver. However, you can use RCA connectors, S-Cable and other cables to connect to your TV if your TV has these types of IN and OUT connections available. Most TVs made in the past 5-7 years have these types of connections.
