Hi: I wish I had a better answer for you. The clips that hold the housing to the celing of the fridge are not as strong as they should be. You will have to use two hands. One to push up on the housing, to take the stress off the clips. You will have to reach around the drop down cover. Then use your other hand to unscrew the filter a quarter turn. Apply slow and steady pressure. I hope this helps, Jeff

I have been unable to remove the wter filter. I have tried to turn it 1/4 of an inch clockwise as described in the owners manual but the filter won't budge. any suggestions?

OK maybe try 1/4 inch counterclockwise and pull down. Here is what the service manual quotes.

sea_breeze_170.jpg
That is easy for anyone to misread.
Water Filter Removal

The water filter is located in the upper right-hand

corner of the refrigerator. The water filter filters water

for the ice maker and the water dispenser.

1. Turn the water filter 1/2 turn counterclockwise and

pull it down.

2. To install the filter, align the indication mark

(unlock position) and push it up while turning 1/2

turn clockwise until the lock position is aligned.

Do not over tighten.
That would be to the left while facing the filter and opposite for installation. Note where and when to push up. Please let me know if you have any questions and please rate if I am able to help you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

My washer is not working it begins to spin stops and has the letters LE appearing.

Hi,

This a common problem for all front loaders. Your washer will not drain or work 'cause your outlet filter is clogged or an unusually heavy load. The small door is on the left side front bottom of your washer. Remove the door with a putty knife or thin butter knife inserted in the middle top of the access panel door. Drain the water from the filter housing by pulling the tube out of the clip and unplugging, allow it to run into a bucket while the machine is in spin only mode. This mode is acheived when the washer is first powered on press the spin button until no spin is reached then run. Run in this mode until no water is draining from the tube in the bucket. Keep the tube as low as possible. When water has stopped coming out of the tube turn off the washer and unplug from the wall. This step is important because this resets the fault. Expect some water to come out when you open the filter housing by turning counterclockwise until you can pull the filter from its housing. Clean out your filter, return to housing turning clockwise until seated and recap the tube and place in the holder, refit the cover and plug back into the wall. Fixed. You may also need to lighten the load a bit but I always try full on load anyways. If it fails again just lighten, unplug wait >1 minute then replug and run.

Goodluck..

I need to change the water filter and theblack thing that turns (at the bottom of fridge)I came off. I can view the filter but can;t budge it or get the black thing back on. what position should I place...

Hi, read your complaint. You are dealing with the lint filter here. First off, take a shallow pan and put up close and underneath filter. Because the handle is broke off, get a vicegrips, or channel locks, to start turning it counterclockwise slowly.
water will start to come out. Drain pan accordingly until no more water comes out. Then unscrew counterclockwise to remove completely. You probably will need to contact a local parts house for a new filter. Be sure to take your make and model number along, as they will need it. Hope this helps.

How do I replace the water filter in my Maytag Refrigerator it is a side by side with the ice maker in the freezer door. The light is on and I can't find my boodk

iF THE FILTER IS IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER OVER THE ICEMAKER. iIF YOU HAVE A REPLACEMENT FILTER ON HAND. YOU NEED TO TURN OFF THE WATER SUPPLY AT THE SOURCE. DISCONNECT THE VINYL TUBING AND LET IT DRAIN INTO A BUCKET OR ANY OTHER VESSEL. THEN YOU CAN TWIST THE WATER FILTER COVER COUNTERCLOCKWISE AND REMOVE THE OLD FILTER CARTRIDGE AND INSTALL THE NEW NEW ONE. THEN JUST REATTACH THE WATER SUPPLY LINE AND TURN ON THE WATER SOURCE. THERE SHOULD BE AIR AT FIRST THEN WATER SHOULD COME OUT OF THE WATER DISPENSER.

Changing the water filter in my Frigidaire

My Frigidaire PureSource water filter housing wouldn't unscrew either. Even with the supplied plastic "wrench" and later a cloth-covered pipe wrench, it wouldn't budge. Since both my icemaker and my door dispenser stopped dispensing water, and the filter housing in the fridge wouldn't budge, I suspected that the filter was full of frozen water. (Sometimes things on the top shelf of the fridge freeze, so it was obviously too cold.) I used a hair dryer on the water filter housing for a few minutes, and then the water filter unscrewed easily. Sure enough, the whole inside was a block of frozen water.

This would have been such a simple repair, HOWEVER unfortunately it turned out that I wrenched it too hard and broke the inlet valve on the housing. As soon as I thawed out the filter and reassembled, water was pouring out of the top. Took off the big cover at the top ceiling of the fridge and saw my problem.

It's only about a $25 part, but I'd advise that you be careful to only turn, without rocking back and forth, the housing when trying to unscrew. I guess I wiggled it back and forth too much and cracked it.

Difficulty in releasing old water filter from holder

ukflagger,
Your statement says you turned the filter fully clockwise, to remove the filter you would turn it counterclockwise. I figure you know that and did a typo.
My first suggestion would be to turn the filter fully counterclockwise until the dead stop, then while holding the filter with one hand you would push and release quickly the water dispenser lever. The pressure should pop the filter out of its socket.
My second suggestion is turn filter counterclockwise to dead stop, then take a very hot towel (protect your hands and to not touch towel to any glass shelves) and wrap it around the filter. This method will hopefully warm the water in the filter causing the water to expand and help push the filter out of its socket.
My third suggestion would be more extreme. Turn the water supply off. Turn filter counterclockwise to dead stop, then drill a hole in the side of the filter to allow air into the filter to release any vacuum in the filter allowing you to pull it out of the socket.
If none of these work then the filter socket probably will have to be disconnected so you can get it out of the compartment and get a better grip on all.
I have never had to go that far myself.

Good luck and I hope I have helped you.
