Ematic SUCKS - files wont play

Drag and dropped 26 songs for my daughter - all mp3's. Three of them don't play saying "The File Type Error". Should say, "The Chinese Prisoners That Made This Screwed Up Error."

I had the SAME experience...plus after using the unit 20 days the interface to charge the unit broke. I couldnt return to Walmart. I was told this is an marketplace vender. Ematic told me I had to send it back to them paying postage, and they may or may not fix it. They gave themselves a 6 week turnaround time.

Hi,

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

When i turn on the system it clearly says file system error and will not allow me to play any of my downloaded music.

It may be protected against copyright. Itunes music can not be played on your ematic. It has to be in mp3 format and must be an unprotected file. I suggest you download the songs from a website. Just as if you were backing them up, of the cds you own and the downloaded music you download on utorrent will most likely play on your ematic.

first of all you cant do a quick format you have to open the gpx file and manually delete and make sure your battery is out of the player then open gpx file and youre music file hold down the the mouse button on the song you want and drag it to the gpx file and the release its called drop and drag will not sync up with media players on youre computer will cause a error songs vary in size so wont always get the 200 hundred song that the manufacturer says you can thats based on 3mb per song

It keeps saying file error

Check the format of the music you are playing and if you have music that requires the license it will load the music but not play. It will show up as a file error.

I copy songs into my mp3 audio player

check the type of file format, it will say .wma, mp3, mp4, avi, some players can only play .wma, or .mp3 i pods use mp4, or something, if not an ipod than convert the music to .mp3 or .wma and re load into the mp3 player. are you using a sansa? in the picture above, if so then you can just click the mouse on the the song hold it and drag and drop the song into the player folder. here try this hook your player to your pc, open up my computer, select the drive that idetifies your player, double click, find a file that says audio or music open it that is the directory folder for the music to play from in your player, now keep that open, and open up the folder where you have stored the music in you pc and select whatever song you want, click and hold the mouse button on the song drag the song over to the player folder and let go of the mouse button within seconds it should appear, but like I said before make sure .wma or .mp3 is at the end of the song title, like this
All along the watchtower.wma or Sweet emotion.mp3 , it also helps to adjust the windows smaller to fit them both on the screen that way you can just drag and drop faster. I hope thiis helps.

are you using it through the usb lead if you are you should be able to open the file on the mp3 this should allow you to delete leave this file open but put the music you want on it in a shared file then open this file alongside the file on your mp3 this should allow you to drag and drop but try doing this with your mp3 switched off before you plug it in make sure its off and then when you plug it in it should switch itself on but dont touch the mp3 player and you should be able to drag and drop the files make sure their is enough free memoy on mp3 s some music files are massive you wont need to touch your mp3 player at all while it is plugged into your computer and it should work with no battery in it hope this helps

INSIGNIA MP3 PLAYER

I had this problem also and I think I figured it out because now my music will play. I took the songs I had from limewire, highlighted them all and clicked "save as", opened it with windows media player and on wmp I took my playlist and named it on there....first I synched the songs under "sync" and they would upload on my player but they would NOT play. I got the same stupid error message. So after they were uploaded onto my mp3 player, i dragged all of the songs onto the right side to make a sync list AGAIN and clicked start sync, all of the files said "already on device" so I kind of got mad thinking it still didn't work...when I unplugged it and tried to play the song, they ACTUALLY PLAYED. I fought with this for so long and contemplated about throwing the stupid thing down the toilet but for whatever reason, synching it in two different ways in that order, it worked and it stopped saying "error:can't open this file"...hope this works for you and anyone else having this problem because I know how frustrating this got for me. hope this helps. Good luck!!!
