Question about Kenmore 63252 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

My 63259 has rattled loudly ever since I bought it although it otherwise functions. I couldn't return it to Sears because I can't LIFT it. I went back to the store, they were no help. Then last week my office bought the same model and it DOESN'T rattle. I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. Does Sears back its products or not.?

If the microwave is arcing, or if a cooling or ventilating part is at risk, that can be dangerous.

But of course any time anything is broken or otherwise not functioning properly, it should be fixed as quickly as possibly to prevent it from getting worse.

Their warranty will normally cover in-home service on parts & labor for the first year, and just the magnetron itself for 7-10 years after that.

Specific warranty terms are in your owner's manual.

For repair service on Kenmore appliances, see Sears Service.

One thing to try is set it on its side or back or shake it to check to loose parts.

Loud rattling when operating

it could be a bad fan or a bad stirrer inside the wave guide. I would suggest you get a qualified technician to come check it out.

Microwave is loud

It is normal to have a moderate sound, but if extremely loud it indicates trouble with the magnetron, should be returned for a replacement.

The light went out an the turntable won't stop when I close the door...i tried to push clear, but it still turns. I couldn't find my model number on the below pull down, but my model is 721.8001...

721.80019401 (without spaces) is the correct model number.

If it was the cooktop lamp(s) that went out, I would suspect that it shorted, damaging the control circuit board.

We see and repair this problem on a regular basis with our $39.95 repair service.

Or you can order a new control circuit board (part number 6871W1S354A) for $75.80 from the Sears Parts Direct Web site.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Can the 63259 safely be placed in a cabinet cavity that leaves 2" on either side, 4" on top and 12" in back, over a conventional stove?

As long as you use fire resistant/retardent material ALL around on at least three side, there should be no worries.

you can check and see if there is a fuse on the microwave, if not it may have just burned out, its probably still under warranty so try to take it back for a replacement

Viking Micro noise

The noise is probably from the high-voltage transformer. When it is overloaded, the excess magnetic field it produces vibrates its wire coils. Odd that it only happens for a brief time. It is either defective itself (in which case it may go a long time) or it is getting overloaded by the magnatron/capacitor/diode on its output (in which case it will get worse shortly)
