Not sure that it's my same problem but I found that my 2002 had a chip/resistor in the key. We measured the resistance and then went under the dash locating the red(hot) wire to the ignition switch, then cut it and built a resistor to the specs of they key and inserted it into the starter wire. Simply put, you are making the starter sense the resistance and start the car when the key is turned. Hope that helped. We searched it through google and it told us how to build the resistor. There was also a spec and directions to determine the resistance of the key.

SOURCE: no power to starter 2004 chevy tahoe

Hi
It could be your neutral safety switch. It could be the starter relay which is located in the fuse panel box. It could be the smaller wire going to the starter could be loose or corroded.

SOURCE: On my 1990 Camaro RS the starter is clicking while turning engine

Check battery condition. Sounds partly flat to me OR the earth straps that should be from starter to engine OR earth strap from body to engine is not connected properly.

Simply connect volt meter to battery earth and earth on starter and crank....if more than 0.2v then earth circuit is faulty.

Repeat as above but from +ve battery terminal to +ve on starter.....must be less than 0.2v or faulty wiring on this circuit.

SOURCE: dash dead ,turn key

It there is a problem with the dash, there is probably no power to the anti theft module in your ignition. The car is in anti theft mode due to not being able to read your key transponder. Basically if it cant read the key, it thinks its being stolen. Either fix the dash lights, or fully bypass the security. All the security info you need is on here including how to bypass it.

SOURCE: 2007 chevy cobalt ls won't

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

I have a 94 chevy g20 van w a 350 when I turn the key there's nothing not even a click. I can get the starter to turn underneith with a screw driver but it won't engage just free spins

Assuming you have a good battery there is a small wire that goes to the battery terminal on the starter (big red wire) That is where you get power to ignition switch. this is a fusable link wire If you pull on it slightly and it streches it is burned into.Resist the urge to replace it with a non fuseable wire, it is at any parts store

95 camaro 3.8 liter has head lights, stero, turn singal but when you try to start it , turn the key and you get nothing no even a click?

Check the voltage to the small terminal on the starter when tying to start the car.If there is 12 volts, then replace the starter,if there is not,any voltage, check the neutral safety switch,if it is not the problem, replace the ignition switch. Before all this, make sure the battery is good, and that the battery connections, cable ends included, are clean, and shiny,if they are dirty and corroded, there will not be enough voltage for the starter,it takes more voltage.

My 95 z28 camaro isn't starting. The lights work and the radio works so i don't think its the battery. However when i turn the key all i am getting is a click. not even turning over. any ideas on whats...

even though the lights and radio are working it could still be a battery issue. it takes more amps to start the engine than to run the lights and radio. if the battery is good then it could be a loose cable corrotion or a falty starter

How to check and replace the ignition lock

With the key in the on possition. Hook a positive wire from the battery to the starter terminal were switch kicks it in. See if it turns over for you. if so you have a bad switch. if not, a bad starter.

1997 Chevy Camaro V6 wont start

Hold your foot firmly on the brake and turn the key to the start position, then while holding it, slowly move the shift lever. If the car starts in any gear, adjust the neutral safety switch. Or, a bit safer, but not always as accurate, have someone stand behind the car and with the key in run position, put the car in reverse. If lights come on before or after you are in reverse, then you have same problem.
