You have Air in the Power steering System and it needs to be bleed out, And to do this if you Jack the two front wheels off the ground and Let them Hang free so there is No Load on the steering at all. please put some type of stands under the car, You will need more power steering fluid but before you add this you need to start your Car and turn the steering Wheel Slow from left to Right a few times, You will hear a wearing Notice come from the pump and you will see more fluid come out of the pump as well, that is the air trying to bleed its self out. The fluid coming out will be air rated lots of bubbles in it, Now that you have done this the Noise from the pump should start to go quite at this Point you can start to Add the New power steering fluid slow to the reservoir and keep turning the steering wheel from left to right slow (Never Fast but slow ) Have a lot of rags to clean the Mess. Hope this helps you. :)

Why is power steering fluid coming out of the cap? I just replaced the pump because it was leaking

Too much fluid is in the pump. After purging the air out of the lines stop the engine and let it settle before checking fluid level in the pump.

I just recently replaced the power steering pump in my car after that we bleed the line and everything seemed fine the next day power steering fluid was spewing out the cap and I can't figure out why now...

there is still air in the system-jack the front of the car off the ground turn the key just until steering unlocks and turn the steering wheel completly side to side at least a dozen times-watch the fluid level it most not run out of the reservoir or it will suck more air into system and continue to foam-cheers Denny

My power steering pump resevoir is leaking any ideas.

Is it leaking out of the reservoir itself,or is it leaking out f the reservoir cap? If the power steering is overfilled, it will leak out the vents in the cap when the fluid gets hot. It may also be a bad seal on the cap. Replace the cap if the seals are bad. If the reservoir itself is leaking, the only option is to replace the reservoir.

While turning the steering wheel there is a whining sound from the motor. What is it?

you can hear your power steering pump working and if it's whining, it may be low on fluid.
Check the fluid level with the engine running and be very careful of moving or rotating parts.
Locate the pump and check the level (the cap will usually have a dipstick to measure the level attached to the cap and you read it the same way as your engine oil dipstick). DO NOT overfill the pump as it will just leak out and cause other issues.
If the level is very low, top it up then work the steering from side to side a few times then recheck the level. Careful, power steering fluid can get very hot!!
If the fluid in the pump looks dark or black, take the vehicle to your local mechanic and have the fluid replaced and the system flushed.

Power steering leaks from the cap

could be overfull
remove excess to the full mark on the dipstick
could be a problem power steering pump bypassing excessive oil back to the reservoir under pressure and heating and expanding the oil
take it to an accredited power steering service center and have a pressure test done on the pump
the humming noise indicates a valve problem leaking under pressure

Power steering dont work to left or right

To find out witch it is,pump or rack and pinion, break loose the presure line on the power steering pump with a wench.Start the car and turn the steering wheel back and forth, you may need to loosen the nut on the power steering hose two or three turns to get the fluid to shoot out.It should come out pretty forceful. If it doesn`t,then replace the pump.If it does come out really powerful, replace the rack and pinion.
