Will not print black

Printing bad and did "nozzle check". Showed missing lines so did two "deep clean" cycles. Each time the pattern got worse and now NO black ink - not even a trace. changed printhead from my I850 and still no black. The colors print perfectly. Yes I could replace the printer but this is economical to operate and would like to save it if possible.

Deep cleaning uses up a lot of ink. Is it possible that you are out of ink?

Exchanged the printhead and cartridges out of my compatible I850 printer and still didn't print any black. Other colors fine.

Why is my dell 926 printer is blacking everything out

Hi,

The print head nozzles may be clogged. From the Utility section found in the printer driver, clean the print heads by performing a head cleaning followed by printing a nozzle check pattern. A head cleaning and nozzle check must be performed as a cycle. After printing a nozzle check, examine the printed dot pattern. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If there are gaps in the dot pattern, continue with another cycle. Performing up to 6 cleaning cycles is not uncommon if the print heads are severly clogged.

Now you will be able to print in colour.

Hope this helps.

I have a canon multifunction MX700. Suddenly, my black ink stopped printing. Printer prints in other colors. I have turned the power to both printer and computer on and off, have checked the USB cable,...

Dear Adrienne,First make sure that the black ink is not empty. If you are sure the black ink is full enough you need to check the print head condition. The print head may be clogged or faulty.
To fix the clogged print head, please perform the following step:
  • Print the nozzle check pattern, access the following menu on LCD: Menu>Maintenance>Nozzle Check. The good nozzle pattern should like below sample image.

10_5_2011_3_51_03_pm.jpg
  • If the print head nozzle missing some color (i.e Black) the perform print head cleaning: Menu>Maintenance>Cleaning. Then print the nozzle check pattern again. Note: you may repeat this step up to 3 times.
  • If the problem still remain, then you should perform Deep Cleaning: Menu>Maintenance>Deep Cleaning.
If you have perform the above steps but the problem still the same, please check whether the black nozzle missing partially or totally. The faulty Purge Unit (ink pump) may cause the same problem. I mean the purge unit does not work properly so the ink cannot flow. Good luck :)

Colour ink not printing

If the printer is printing blank pages, make sure you are using the correct printer driver and make sure the paper size is correctly selected in the driver. If the printer is printing black only, the "Ink" option in the printer driver may be set to "Black" instead of "Color" or a setting in the software may be set to print black only. Also, the print head nozzles may be clogged.

Perform up to 3 cycles if necessary. If the nozzle check is not printing completely, and if the head cleanings do not help the nozzle check pattern to print completely, turn the printer off overnight and try the cleaning cycles again.

Try a new ink cartridge. Also, make sure you are using a genuine ink cartridge and has the same number as your old catridge.

I have just changed the black ink carteidge on my Epson SX210 printer. The printed page now has some lines of clear text and other lines of missing or partial text. What is the problem and solution...

Click Start, go to Control Panel > Printers (Vista) / Devices and Printers (7) / Printers and Faxes (XP)
Right click on your printer, click Printing Preferences, click Maintenance, click Nozzle Check.
If the Nozzle Check pattern isn't complete, do a Head Cleaning and print the Nozzle Check pattern again.
You can do the Head Cleaning cycle 3 times, and make sure to print the Nozzle Check after each Head Cleaning cycle to see if there are any improvements.
You can also reinstall the inks by clicking Ink Cartridge Replacement and following the instructions.
If that does not work, please call your local service center or the store where you purchased the printer for warranty options.

I have a Canon Pixma MP270 and I can only print in colour both the black and colour lights are lit up on the printer

f print quality does not improve by the standard cleaning of the Print Head, clean the Print Head deeply. Cleaning the Print Head deeply consumes more ink than the standard cleaning of the Print Head, so clean the Print Head deeply only when necessary.

See " Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern".

If the problem is not resolved, turn off the power and clean the Print Head deeply again after 24 hours.
If the problem is still not resolved, replace the FINE Cartridge with a new one.

See " Replacing FINE Cartridges".
If the problem is still not resolved after replacing the FINE Cartridge, contact the service center.

Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern
Print the nozzle check pattern to determine whether the ink ejects properly from the print head nozzles.

Stylus printing striped alternating shades of yellow and green of image

Possible printhead issue.
Please reseat the black cartridge. Let the printer charge like it normally does.
Print a nozzle check pattern. If you see gaps, missing lines or missing colors on the pattern, clean the printhead using the driver. 3 consecutive cleaning cycle is recommended. Compare the nozzle pattern over the last printout. If you see any improvement, you can clean the head numerous times until you get a perfect nozzle check pattern.
