SOURCE: I am not sure where

None of the above. You hook your two line leads (the two hot 115 lines) to L1 and L2 and you hook up the ground to the green screw. Do NOT connect the neutral to the motor.

Here's some more info diagrams for you http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com/aosmith/AO_CONNECT.PDF L1 is one hot wire L2 is the other hot wire. L1 can not be connected to a L2 wire and L2 can not be connected to a L1. Ground only to ground.

AC condenser motor 3 wires, black, orange, brown. Which is L1, L2 and capacitor ????

The black wire is usually the L1 line connection. The brown wire is usually the capacitor wire, and that leaves the orange wire for the other line connection - either L2 or Common depending on the voltage involved.

Does it matter wrong connection (switching cables) on a single phase electric mottor

Most larger 120 V motors have the option to be wired for 240 V, and as a result need half the current - which translates to lower installtion costs do to a wire size the can be reduced.

These motors have simple terminals like L1, L2 and two or more similar to 1, 2, 3, 4 or A, B, etc. that can be connected that permits selecting rotation direction, speed(s) and voltages.

Nearly all these motors will require that L1 and L2 terminals be connected to the power, whether it is a hot and neutral for a 120 v supply, or hot and hot as would be the case for a 240 v supply. It would then require the correct connection / jumper connection of the other terminals to tell the motor which voltage is being supplied. An incorrect combination here could be disastrous. Either way, L1 & L2 is power in. Consult the label on the motor to correct wiring - and if by chance one of the L1 or L2 terminals is specified for neutral, it should be connected that way.

I hope this helps & good luck!

I am trying to wire a dayton booster pump. it shows a L1 and L2 connection on the 115v connection. L1 goes to P1 L2 goes to T4. on the 220v connection it shows L1 and L2. L1 goes to wire P1 and L2 goes...

The power cord has a green ground wire; two hot wires, which are black and red; and a white neutral wire. Attach the neutral to the middle connector and the two hot wires to either end of the terminal.
In order to safely ground the machine the green ground wire must be securely connected to the dryer frame. There may be a screw on the frame where you can attach the ground

Need to know which is pos and neg. L1 or l2?

Pos and negative are DC voltage terms. And that pump is a 220 VAC pump. L1 and L2 are the two HOT terminals - so you will have 110 VAC on one leg and 110 VAC on the other leg and it doesn't really matter which HOT you put on which leg.

I am replacing an old booster pump with a Polaris PB4-60. I have three wires, One Red, One Blue, and One Green. Now I know the Green is Ground, but which poles do the Red and Blue go? Both seem to say...

It is impossible for us to know what voltage you are running as you did not list that information here.
Typically a green-red-blue comination of wiring suggests 240 VAC connections.

Also, every motor you buy is required to have a wiring diagram on the side of the motor. This should tell you where to connect the wires.
IF you are running 240 v as suspected, both the red and blue wires are "hot" wires on the load side of your timing box. Simply look at the side of the motor and follow the diagram on wiring the pump.

Typically most motors in the USA use a L1 and L2 terminal to connect the 2 "hot " wires.
This pump does come factory wired for 240 volts, so it probably is just 1 each of the "hot" lines to L1 and L2.
Before connecting, make sure you confirm your systems voltage with a multimeter.

Below is a link to the installation manual for this pump. But it does not list electrical diagram since its on the side of the motor.

I have a 2.5h 2 speed motor with 3 wires Black, Red, Blue & Green (Ground) My question is how do know what ones are L1 & L2 and N?

That model number is listed as a 230v motor (no neutral) The wires should be attached to terminals marked L1, L2 and A . L1 is high speed, L2 is common and A is low speed. Check the name plate for wiring information.

Replacing new AOSSQ1152

What's the source of the info that the two orange wires are Low & High?

Orange is an unusual color, but I'd say, with 99.999% certainty, that if you put a voltmeter across the two orange wires, it'll read 220 volts (nominal).

The two orange and one white lead give you the ability to run @ 110 volts -- there will be 110 volts between one orange and white and also the other orange and white.

For this motor you only need the two orange wires which will give you 220 volts between the two. Cap off the neutral/white wire (not needed) & connect the two orange wires, one to L1 and one to L2 on the motor (L = Line). And don't forget to connect the ground...

P.S. You should also have a GFCI on this circuit.
