Question about Toshiba 27AF44 27" TV
There are several, not very expensive, parts in the power supply that may have failed; some of them worth under a dollar.
One does need some technical knowledge and two basic instruments to locate the failed part(s) however so the labor charge will be many times the parts cost.
I do recommend you have it repaired because when you decide to buy a flat-panel (LCD, plasma) type set, it will not likely last as long as your Toshiba has. The newer sets are being slapped together in China. I hope you have a surviving independent TV service shop in your area.
