Headphones won't work when attached

The computer will not redirect audio through the headphone jack. even when it says its working it plays through the speakers only.

    found solution, the playback devices would only enable and disable when i accessed them through my toolbar on bottom right, not when they were accessed through the control panel

I plug my iPad into to headphone jack but I don't know how to get it to work


The headphone jack on the shelf system is for connecting headphones. It is not an input for sound from an iPad or other source.

Buy a lead with headphone jack to red and white RCA/phono. Jack goes to iPad. Red and white goes to Game Port Audio in (bottom edge of unit). Select the GAME input. Play your music.

My headset is not working

Basic Headphone Troubleshooting
If no sound is coming from your headphones, confirm that the headphones work properly by using them with a different device. After this, confirm that the headphones are plugged into the proper jack. If your CD/DVD drive has a headphone jack in front, audio will only be played through this jack when you are playing a disc. On a desktop computer, the correct jack to use for headphones is usually color-coded green, while notebook computers will have headphone icons next to the correct jacks. Finally, check the speaker icon in the system tray to make sure that your sound output is not muted. b> Troubleshooting Notebooks b> Most Dell notebooks use a special type of audio jack. The jack, along with the sound drivers that are installed, automatically detect whether headphones or speakers are plugged in and adjust the sound output accordingly. If this does not happen when headphones are plugged in, the sound drivers may be at fault. Visit the Dell support website and download the most recent sound drivers for your notebook. If this does not help, some users have reported success with removing the sound drivers completely and letting Windows install generic drivers automatically. Last Resort b> If all other options have been exhausted, the last resort in troubleshooting a headphone jack is running a complete system recovery operation. This will completely erase all of the information on your primary hard drive partition and reinstall Windows along with the drivers for all of your hardware. This is an extreme measure, as you will lose all of the information that you have stored on the hard drive. However, it will resolve the issue if it is caused by a software problem. Speakers work in the front headphone jack on my Dell PC, but not in the audio jacks in the back of the computer


I think most computers do not have headphones in the rear, just LINE OUT, which has no enough volume to be used for headphones.

I have ac201 stero pc headset with microphone,windows vista ultimate i count get them to work can you help me


take a 1.5 volt batery cell... attach one side of cell it to the end of headphone pin... attach other end of cell with a wire and tap that wire on the headphone pin ...u shud get a clicking sound in ur headphones.... this is to check if ur headphones work...

if they work... apply a drop of mobile oil on the headphone pin and insert it in the jack and spin it so the oil reaches the inside of jack then let it dry for a while....

attach the headphone to jack again and play the audio ...if this doesnt give u any output.... check ur sound driver software

Headphone jack does not work, audio still plays from speakers


sound like the hardware supporting your headphones may have disconnected from its solder.This could have happened from dropping the notebook with the headphones plugged in and landing badly, or a strong or constant tug on the input. Otherwise, it could be a software configuration like you've tried

Mic not working when headphone plugged in


Try changing the Windows Default Audio devices
  1. Go to control Panel
  2. Sounds and audio devices
  3. The Audio tab
  4. Then change the Sound Recording Device to Logitech Headphone INPUT

Headphone jack broken speakers wont work


Yes, since the Headphone pin is stuck in the Jack, you are not getting audio from Speakers.

You should have noticed that connecting the headphones to the Jack will block the audio coming from the Speakers and the same is the current situation.

You can either try removing the blocked part using a Tweaser or get it repaired.

Sound Problem with Headphone


First try the headphones in a different machine, such as an mp3 player or cd player to make sure the headphones still work.

Try going to the start button, then settings and control panel. Then select "Sounds and Audio devices" Down at the bottom you should see "Speaker settings." Click the "Advanced" button and then select stereo headphones.

Then, place the headphones into the green audio jack (or the headphone jack up front if you have them), play some music, and then gently wiggle the jack to see if some of the sound makes it into the headphones. If not, try slowly pulling the headphones out of the jack while the music is plaaying. you might find that the jack has slipped a little and may play only if your connector is slightly pulled out or more firmly pushed in. If his helps, then your audio connector is loose and you should replce the sound card. If the card is on the motherboard, you can disabled it when you put a new card in.

Nano shows song playing but nothing happens


Make sure your headphones are working properly by testing with your computer headphone jack.

Is the headphone port on the Nano loose?

Connect the Nano to your iPod dock and see if you can head audio through the docks headphone jack.

If the headphones work, and you can get audio out of the dock headphone port, then there is a problem with your Nanos headphone jack.
