Question about Arris Computers & Internet

I have suddenlink cable and my phone is through them too. I keep having problems with my phone working. They say that it is linked to the modem. I do not know anything about this but they cannot seem to figure it out either. I have an Arris modem. The link keeps flashing. The telephone line is solid. What does this mean? My phone is not working.

On an arris modem, if the telephone light is solid, then there is dial tone coming into the modem. that means the problem is somewhere in the house wiring. check to make sure the phone line is plugged into line 1 on the back of the modem. next make sure it is plugged into the wall jack. if this is correct then you need the cable co to come out and troubleshoot your inside wiring. as a quick fix, you can plug your phone into the jack on the back of the modem labled line 1/2

I am renting a Motorola SB5101 for $10 a month, and bought a used Motorola SB5100N from someone on eBay so that I don't have to pay the rental charge anymore. They claim it is a good working modem. I was...


I would look around for a better deal anyway.
I dont know of any ISP that charges you for the rental of a modem.
I am in the UK, and every internet service provider gives you the modem (and usually a wireless router) free with the package

You need a router or network switch to share the single connection from this cable modem. Wireless router if you're so inclined. Comcast is about to jack the rental rate for that modem from $3.50 to $5 on January 1, at least in Atlanta.
