Question about Car Audio & Video

Delphi Delco car stereo keeps flashing ''check CD'' when CD is out. Continues to hum and flash error message when truck is off. Any way to repair the CD player, or know which wire to cut so I can still use the stereo?

No wires to "cut"...this problem is common to GM trucks...either replace unit with aftermarket or live with it.

Your best bet is to get one at a salvage yard. Those have computer data wires in them. Hook the wrong wire up and you can mess up or blow another computer.

Try Doctor Don's. He is an AC Delco expert who can repair a lot of AC Delco radios. He put some new amps into my Radio/CD player for my 1990 Cadillac Deville so it would play in my AC Delco Radio's place. He really knows what he is doing when it comes to radios.

www.doctordons.com is his website.

Good luck on this repair.

When trying to play cds keep getting ''E'' error message. this is in my car cd player. any suggestions

If the message is "error" The CD Lens is bad. Try disconnecting the negative lead from the car battery for about 10 min. But! Make sure your stereo does not have an anti-theft system, because if you disconnect the battery the stereo needs to put a code or will not work again. If after this your stereo still not working you have to take it to any electronics repair shop (the CD lens is bad).

Cd stuck in stereo

Delcos are notorius for this kind of thing. Since you have 2 radios, you will have one to practice on. What you really need to do is remove the radio from the dash, remove the appropriate casing from the delco radio and push the cd out manually. I typically use dental picks to fit into tight spaces. Once you have the CD out of one of them, you can either have someone swap them for you, or since you are experienced in the process do it yourself.

I would also check the speaker outputs from the deck. If any of the speaker outputs are touching any metal on the vehicle, it could give that message.

2002 Silverado- CD played ERR message

This is not a fuse problem, it may be a dirty laser lens or a broken loading mechanism, buy a CD player cleaner disk, if that won't work you will have to pull the unit out and send it in for repair at an authorized GM electronics repair station.
