I have 01 waverunner xlt 1200 was running just fine till i tried to stop the engine and instead of presing the stop red button i presed the green start well it seems to be stuck because when you shut the engine off the starter is still going even if i take the key out it wants to run the starter so i disconected the battery see if it would reset but with no key in it as soon as i conect the positiv wire it activates the starter ANY BRIGHT IDEAS THAT MIGHT HELP!!!!
You need a new starter relay. It is located in the black box on the rear wall of the forward compartment. It is the one with the 2 red starter cables going to it and a brown and black wire coming off of it.
Your starter bendix is stuck u acn try to tap it and see if will disengadge but i dought that will work u need to replace the starterbut dont keep runnig the ski you may break the block and that will be a nightmare try to tap it when it is runnig that way it will have a chance to come back you can also loosen the starter and that may release the bendix from the flywheel but im not going to say that it wont stick again new starter is the best way

You'll see 2 small caps in the carburettor cover.
Do that fogging only in very well ventilated area ( outside thus).
Run the engine on idle, open both caps, spray as much fogging oil in both holes ( use 2 cans) till the engine stalls.
Close the caps.
Done...
I just had one do basically the same thing. I had to replace the impeller. It felt like a clutch was slipping. If they get any dings or nicks or anything in the impeller they will not getup speed at all.
hi there it sounds like the switch gear need pulling apart and the copper contacts cleaned as it sounds like the kill switch is closed up and the starter button contacts need cleaning as well also check to see if the stater soliniod might need a cleanup where the wires go,also check your fuses to see if there contacting alright if you ride in all weather or the bike sits outside it can have these problems as mouisture gets into everything. hope this helps cheers pete
your starter is shot more than likey try to jump the relay in that black boxs buy jumping the two post on that round relay if it does the same its the starter if it turns over its the relay or the start **** becareful jumping the relay no fuel around air bike out and you have to take off the exhaust manifold to get to the starter
