knocking usually has something to do with lack of proper maintaince like oil checks etc..

Sounds like you are throwing a code for something.havr your car checked with a odb 2 scanner and see if there's a code..if so reply with it or look it up.its free at shucks or AutoZone,for the use of a scanner..

Take it back to the oil change place. Or check the oil. If a seal is leaking or oil filter was not tightened or put on correctly oil may have leaked out and you will blow your engine!

Is is there any oil leaking in garage or driveway or where you park?

All Dip Sticks should have a minimum and a maximum level indicated by a mark on the stick. Oil needs to be between these 2 marks. Some have very small holes in the stick, at these points of reference, or a dent/line pressed horizontally in it.

If you are planning on keeping the car for a whilst, here are a few ideas on things you may like to consider doing as preventative maintenance. Consult your vehicles log book first though, to see what maintenance has been completed.

A good idea is to give is a good lube change, and replace basic components from front to rear. Start by the cooling system, replace the radiator cap, thermostat and give the engine block and radiator a thorough flushing to remove scale and debris. Replace water pump if you would like, not huge with this miles but would give good piece of mind.

Fill back up with good qaulity coolant, inhibitor and anti-freeze. This will give the cooling system a new lease on life.

Replace all drive belts, check alternator charge rate and battery condition. A 'valve set' can be performed by your dealer, just to tune the engine back up.

Drain and replace transmission and differential fluid.

Replace engine oil, engine oil filter, spark plugs and leads and air cleaner.


Check all brake pads and discs for wear and any suspect leaks around brake calipers.

Grease all driveshaft uni's and inspect for any excess wear. Replace as nescessary.

All depending on what you feel is nessecary and what your budget allows.

it will turn on every 3000 miles to remind you to change your oil. Your owners manuel will tell you how to reset it.

at 70 k? Replace all fluids for transmission, and oil, Perform tune up and replace filters.

It will tell you how in the owners manual if you have one. If not, try turning your ignition key to the on position without starting the car and press on the brake pedal 5 times in a row.

There's usually a page in the manual under "oil change" that explains some means of holding the odometer button in while turning the ignition key to accesory or run (but not start) until the light goes out.

This resets a distance counter for those that do their own oil changes.

If you have a bigger problem, (EGR valve, O2 sensor, etc... ) this might not work - you'll need to figure out why it's blinking - often a paper clip in the right sockets of the diagnostic connector will cause the light to flash some pattern, to indicate where the problem is. Most of this is available in a "Hanes" or "Chilton" manual for your make, in the local library.
