Toshiba 42hp83 plasma power supply problem?

I have a 42HP83 Toshiba plasma TV about 4 years old. TV turned off and the red light blinks twice. I found it had one bad fan, so I replaced both and that seemed to solve the problem for about 1 week. Now it has to warm up before the picture will come on, it's speckled green and red with a horizontal line through the middle for about 20 minutes till the tv warms up. It still shuts down periodically when it overheats. I've heard alot of people say that it's the power supply. Can it be fixed without having to purchase a whole new board?

    Toshiba 42HP83 Plasma

I have the same problem with sharpie123's tv. Last night my tv shut off by itself and with the red led blink twice every ten second. Tv will turn on with picture on screen for 30 second then shut off and has been doing that ever since. I brought it from Best Buy on Novemver 2002 with the service plan.

Tv starts to acting up for the first time on July 2007 with shut off by itself and also some time the turn on with no picture, I called Best Buy for the in home tv service. The techician came out and order power supply and video board.

That fix the picture problem, but tv still shut off by itself once in a while.

The next service visit he order the new plasma display panel. With that fix it works great for 3 weeks and now its dead. The technician is coming back out this thursday. And I am going to let him know about the fan being over heat.

I have the same problem. Same Toshiba Plasma 42 inch after 4 years shuts off for no reason and the red light blinks two times.

Called toshiba - they have no clue what the problem is - had it fixed with a scaler cost 492.00 plus labor - worked for 5 months then the same problem again. I am appauled that Toshiba doesn't know how to fix this problem. Please let me know if there is any solution.

Solution for the red light blinks and auto shut off for the Toshiba 42HP83 plasma is that the cooling fans get dusty. Open the back of the Toshiba plasma TV and clean the two cooling fans. It should do the trick. If one of the fans does not work the TV automatically shut it self off to avoid overheating.

I had the same problem. It turned out that one of the cooling fans get dusty and does not work. I opened the back of the Toshiba plasma TV and cleaned the failed fan, and it worked like a champ.
