My husband replaced my radiator and now the engine idols low and the heater blows cold air... could it be he didnt do something right and what can we do to repair it before taking it to a mechanic

sounds like he might have gotten air in the cooling system. what he can do is open up the bleeder screw on top of the thermostat housing, and fill the radiator withwater until a stream of non bubbly of coolant comes out. usually the thermostat is located at the end of the lower radiator hose for 4 cylinder cars. can you let me know which model it is specifically so i can post a diagram of the bleeder screw?

Washer is not filling withwater.

The water valve is most likely faulty. Identify the make and model and purchase a new water valve. Fitting is up to your own expertise. Good luck.

Kenmore 500 top load washer starts to fill withwater then stops

This is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. If the washer fills, agitates, then stops at the rinse and won't drain, or if the washer does an initial fill, then stops, this is a symptom of a lid switch malfunction.

The following link explains how to access and/or replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug.
On some models, the lid switch is located under the top casing by one of the lid hinges. You will know if you if you have this type of switch, because It does not have a lid strike and the small hole on the right hand side of the wash tub will not be present. This switch is actuated (toggled) by a rod on the lid hinge. With this type of switch, if you locate it and it can be toggled by hand, you may only need to adjust the actuator by bending it slightly.

If the lid switch is found to be defective, it can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
applaincepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com
repairclinic.com

The average price is $25 to $35. Prices vary between these sites, so shop around for the best deal.

This is a very simple repair, but if you still have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Whirlpool Washer will not progress to the rince cycle.

that is either a problem with the timer , or with the cold water hose at the back of the machine, see the following:

I quote from : The cycle doesn't advance

The cycle doesn't advanceWhen the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It'sthe timer, if your washing machine fills with water and beginsagitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spincycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • Itmay be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills withwater, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinsewater. See There's no cold water.
