SOURCE: dryer smelled of burning plastic, smoked stopped turning on

check the power cord itself, if you see on the back side of the cord a burnt or blackened spot then the cord is the issue

yes, but 900 is a little high for my area. is it loud in spin now? the seal can be replaced for about 50-80 part labor is 1 to 3 hours. if you just smelled the smoke and it is not loud you are ok for a long time, reduce load size and it will probly be ok for some time

SOURCE: burning smell and smoke from motor

Sounds like the transmission is jammed.  This will cause the motor to bog and burn.

SOURCE: Bosch Dishwasher Classix

I've had the same problem TWICE. It seems the natural vibration of the machine loosens wire nuts and leads to the problem. Soldering the connection and then placing a yellow wire nut over the soldered connection works fine to stop the problem. This machine has a electric water heater to sterilize the dishes and draws a lot of power, near the limit of the connection, more than a standard dishwasher. I called Bosch twice about this problem, only the second time when I stated that my lawyer might call them back did they admit that there is an issue with the vibration of the machine leading to the wire nut becoming loose and suggested I solder the connection. Great dishwasher, lousy customer service. They have know about this problem for years.

Battery Light still on

The new alternator is probably ok.
I would say you burned a fuseable link in the wiring harness.
The alternator has a fuse wire between it and the battery to protect it from overload.
Have someone check the wires coming out of the back of the alternator. The big wire should have battery voltage, the small wires energize the alternator when you start the engine.

My washer wont spin and it smells like it is burning it is only 3 yrs old

The burning you smell is probably the belt slipping. There is a belt which is attached to pulleys. The belt engages to spin the basin in the washer. When this belt slips the burning smell happens because the pulleys are spinning and the belt isn't. You will probably need to adjust the tension on the pulleys or get a new belt. This can happen from constantly overloading the washer or trying to get the washer to wash and extra large load while the water level is set at a smaller load.

Have had for at least 6 months if not

What type of smoke? Did it smell electrical? Is ther a possibly of oil leaking to lower part of unit? Popcorn oil. Has the unit been submergerged when cleaning? If it is not an electrical type smoke (smell) the take the unit outside and place it on a non flammmable surface, turn it on and then plug it in. If it's oil or dishwater residue, Let it burn it off, but watch it closely. In the part you would put oil,put a cup or two of water so the heat can be absorbed. Let me know if you will please. When the element has burned off thye whatevers, It will quit smoking. If it is electrical, it will not take long for it to do nothing. You can also remove the bottom cover and take a look see for any indication of burned wiring. The smell will definateltly ID an electrical problem. It's time for a new popcorn popper if it is electrical and if it smells electrical, take it apart to verify it before trashing it uN-PLUGGED WHEN HANDLING A QUESTIONABLE APPLIANCE. :-)

Hi,
This could be a bad timer. Try changing setting on timer and truing it on. One thing for sure you have a dead short... This could be the timer or the motor or it could be a wire inside the cabinet shorted out... There should be 2 clips on the top front of machine that hold the top douwn use a putty knife or other thin but stiff object to pust in on those clips while pulling up on top at the same time then you can fold the top back out of the way and just look for anything unsuual. Burnt/ broken wires loose wires etc... The front will need to be removed to observe motor area... Usually 2 screw at top left and right the pullout and up... Smell around the motor for that burned rubber smell.
Please let me know if I can do anything else to help

Burning Smell - smoking coming out of it

I believe we tracked it down to the pressure switch mounted on the drain pump. The device had a strong electrical burn smell and is positioned where it could easily have smoked the basket. We're putting the washer back into service and if I have a recurrence I will post the information. BTW ... Replacement was simple and the part was $26 including shipping.
