SINGER 700 - Knitting Machine - 2nd yarn does not knit or (patter

I have a knitting machine which does not knit the 2nd yarn in the "2" position. This is a Singer 700. I try the carriage from my Singer 360 and it does work perfectly. The arm is fine, and after many test I have concluded that it is the main carriage. I can do tuck with 1 yarn but no fairisle with 2 yarns. Thanks.

I found the solution to my problem!.. one of the lever under the carriage was completely jammed!..not moving! I took it all appart, clean it, put the spring back and it is now working!.

if you turn upside down your carriage and push the , tuck , slip faisle, etc buttons you should see a metal piece flip into a different position, it should also click, if you see no movement that will mean that either a sping as come off or snapped you will get to this from the top of the carriage by taking off the handle then the plastic covers then you should see the mechanism but you will need to be confident to try this bit, see how you feel about it you may wont to take it to the repair shop for the new springs... goodluck...nb that its not always a semetrical movement it will be 1 side then the other take a look at how the two work underneath side by side and compare..

Not sure where you are located, but this may be a problem for a KM mechanic to fix.

If you are a bit handy with a screwdriver, you could turn the arm over ans see that the alignment for the yarn gate is determined by two phillips head screws near the magnets. There is a little bit of play as the screws go through slots not holes. If you loosen the screws and pull the yarn gate towards back of the plate this should place the yarn in the latch hooks of needles.

The other thing is that you should ensure that the brushes are set to the circle, not the weave position.

SOURCE: I'm feeling really stupid but I can't seem to feed

right now then just check you are not using too thicker yarn.. and that you have not got the tension disk too tight it may help you to loosen them off completely so you can then thread it through then tighten them to the required tension, also once you manage to thead it up never take the yarn out break it bear to the floor and tie a little knot with ends clipped close and just pull the new colour through it a good cheat! You should firstly lay the yarn in the place in needs to go between the two disks then pull down a little but more to the side it should be to the side away from the centre of the bed on which ever mast your threading up.. it should click and then run freely, hope this helps...Heidi

Knitting machine skipping stitches

hello , here are a few reasons why your machine may be skipping stitches. Possibly through to tighter tension either on the dial or on the masts at the top you will need to loosen them, possibly due to the yarn not feeding corectly, maybe it is that the yarn is snagging intermidtently on some thing, i take it you are using yarn off a cone specially for machine knitting.. maybe you have some sticky latches thats the bit that closes on the needles just check they should not stick or be twisted in any way if so change them, i do feel it is probably your tensions you need to look at first though i hope this helps but a few more details and i could help more thanks heidi
