Question about Computers & Internet

DLink Wireless USB Corrupts Windows Firewall, permanent shut down and it also corrupts the modem software and makes the boot to the desktop very long (3 -7 minutes for icons to appear). The DLink DWA-130 IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS VISTA! The installer cannot find all the drivers on the CD and the CD only has Windows software on it. The Software and Adaptor so corrupted my system I had to re-install Vista!

If a software/product is not compatible with vista, it is best not to use with vista. Either switch to xp, or buy another product which is compatible with vista. Most adpators nowawadays are compatible with vista, and i do NOT recommend buying a d-link product.

Hope this helped! ^_^ have a great day

Your operating system or Master Boot Record is corrupt. Which version of windows are you using?

It may be possible to repair the problem with your windows disk. Boot from the Windows disk but make sure you read the instructions for windows repair carefully because some options will format your hard drive.

To rescue the data here are some things I do:
Make a boot disk with USB support and transfer the contents of your drive ton an external harddrive. Or, you could place your hard drive in another computer as a slave drive and retrieve your files that way.

How to install a wireless care to the aspire x1700

If you are trying to install a wireless network card on an Aspire x1700?
1. Go to Wal-Mart or local computer store and purchase a USB Wireless Network Adapter.
2. Get home and install the cd, then plug the device in after installing the software first. You must install the CD with the software before you plug in the USB hardware in the rear USB slot.
3. Reboot
4. Your wireless software should start with the next boot, if not in the system tray (clock) You will see bars, such like on a cell phone, and right click on this to choose View Available Networks.
5. You can connect to nearby routers which are recognized as "access points". Then click connect, after choosing a network to join.

Internet page does not fully display

There are two reasons
1) the firewall on Dell preventing it from opening up
2) IE needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled

Try the later

IE closing immediately indicates that one of the files for IE is corrupt or broken or missing. Try and repair the IE file/files that is/are missing/corrupt

I have a dlink - dir-301 wireless router and i can connect, i can see my network but i can connect, even though all correct lights are on the router and i have the correct password

1) Check and test your firewall. Your firewall, especially if its a software firewall like ZoneAlarm, Black Ice, Norton Firewall or something else could be blocking the connection. Disable your firewall and test the connection.

2) Check your IP address

3) Reset your TCP/IP stack by downloading and running WinsockXPFix.exe a Visual Basic program designed to fix corrupted TCP/IP issues, host file problems and a variety of other connectivity issues.

I just installed my siemens se567 wireless router nd I want to set up a wireless network to another computer using a linksys wireless usb network card. What must I do?

Hi tbopper, install linksys software. Follow the instruction. Disable your anti virus / firewall software. (temporally). Make sure the PC with the wireless card is turned on.
Than open My Network connections & run windows Set up a home or small office network. Follow windows instructions.
That's it. When you restart your PC your Anti virus software should enable it's self. Check your firewall is also back on, if it's included in your anti virus it will re-inable it's self. Since your running a wireless make sure you enable security & password, other wise anyone with a wireless can tap into your wireless signal slowing your bandwith down.
To test your linksys is correct. Open internet explorer. In the address window type in 192.168.1.1 & press enter. Your settings should show up. Tech support is free with linksys.

Good Luck & Enjoy!
