SOURCE: Gear shifter locked in forward gear

If the gear lever is loose,it's the gear connection rod that you disconnect to do a g/box drop.If its not loose, drop the g/box off the leg and the first thing you find might be the problem.A loose bolt,a jammed shifter. It will probably be a connection problem than a g/box problemHope this helps

SOURCE: running full throttle and on mercury 60HP and it just quit propelling. it will go super slow in forward and it goes in reverse. what has happened?

Maybe the transmission went out. Take the bottom plug from the lower unit and see if it is full of water or lots of metal in the oil. THEN take a magic marker or a punch and hammer and mark the hub of the prop opposite the blades of the prop and go run it again. If the marks move from one another, you need to have the prop repaired.

You might have hit something and ruined the prop.

How do i replace a shift lever on a mercury 6 hp 4 stroke outboard 2006

Hello, is it the external shift handle you want to replace?

Then you'll have to remove the engine block from the driveshaft housing.
To do so: Drain the engine oil.
Disconnect the throttle cable from the carburettor.
Disconnect the start-in-gear cable from the recoil starter housing.
Disconnect the fuel lead at the fuel connector
Disconnect the choke puller at the carburettor.
Disconnect the white and black wire from the stop button at the engine-block and engine wires.
Remove 6 bolts holding the engine-block to the driveshaft housing.
Lift the engineblock.
The shift lever is fixed with a M6 bolt in the front-top of the driveshaft housing. You'll need a new gasket, Part Num 803508-9

Good luck!

Mercury 60 Big Foot outboard

you can adjust the throttle position better than what you have described
the first forward action is the gear engagement and the at least 1/2 " lever movement before the engine starts to rev up
the same for reverse
that gives more control over the required rpms

Mercury outboard 70 hp 1987 when in forward gear the prop turns one way when in neutrel spins both ways when in reverse the prop is locked both ways is my lower unit working property

mercury and others have a "sawtooth" cut for forward gear so the prop will rachet spin backward when dry tested, and a square clutch dog for reverse, which when it finally engages locks the prop in reverse. and will not spin in either direction.

So when you shift--- snap in in gear-- do not ease it in gear, as it will wear the dog out faster.

When i put my mercury 150 into gear it hits really

See if you can turn down the base idle some. Then check your gear lube, sometimes you can get an airpocket and the top end is dry. Last, if still not fixed, see if you can adjust the cables so that the throttle RPM changes after the gears do.

You want a little lag in the throttle so you don't take out a dock when coming onshore.

35hp Johnson evinrude outboard not running at full potential

Hi, did you buy your engine used? Sounds like your gonna have to get the carb or carbs cleaned. Its possible you could have a stopped up fuel filter, or not enough spark but i am guessing its gonna be the carbs. They got some gunk in em i bet. Probably old fuel turned to gunk from setting up. I had the same problem on my 40 horse.

Mercury 4 hp outboard engine wont go into gear

The lower gears arent hard to change, if your in there might as well get all of them there are only a few. the lshift lever does nothing but move the gears forward and back to engage forward and reverse, just pay extra attention to keep it water tight when done. A dealer should have the assembly chart for easy fix
