THIS IS CAUSED BY A PIECE OF DIRT STUCK IN AN AIR BLEED JET OF THE CARB OR THE CHOKE BLADE NOT BEING FULLY OPEN, CHECK THE CHOKE BUTTERFLY 1ST, IF IT IS OPEN ALL THE WAY THEN REMOVE AND CLEAN/REBUILD THE CARBURETOR

Homelite 240, runs but shuts off......... I suspect carburator.....

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Inspect the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Make sure the carburetor is fastened securely to the engine. If you still have problems, go to: http://www.drystacked.com for a 12 page article on Walbro carburetor theory and troubleshooting. This information applies in a general way to other carburetor brands as well. Hope this helps!

HOMELITE 330 KEEPS FLOODING

Clean the air cleaner and muffler if plugged. Remove the lower chamber cover of the carburetor and check the diaphragm. It should not be hard, cracked, or have any holes. Also, check the small fuel metering valve that the diaphragm controls for any debris or damage to the needle tip. Go to: http://www.drystacked.com for a 12 page article on Walbro brand carburetors theory and troubleshooting. Hope this helps!

Homelite starts with strarter fluid and then stops

Does the pumper bulb fill with fuel when pumped? I had a similar problem with a Homelite--which turned out to be the location of the carburetor lower-chamber gasket. The diaphragm needs to go to the carburetor body (pin inward), then the gasket and cover plate. Go to:
www.drystacked.com for a 12 page PDF document on Walbro carburetor theory, troubleshooting, and repair. Hope this helps!

There is a half circle-like part which helps the gas to circulate when starting the motor, the plastic thing has a hole from which the gas leaks whenever attempts are made to start the engine. What is this...

Sounds like you are talking about the primer bulb. It is replaceable, Find a shop that can sell you a primer bulb for a Walbro carburetor or take the unit with you and they should be able to match it up.
Good day.

Homelite 42cc, 18" bar chain saw - Engine will not restart after saw has been used for a while. Wait overnight and it starts fine.

After it has been used for a while and it won't restart, try loosing the cap to the gas tank and see if there is pressure escaping. The homelites are notorious for the vent screen in the gas tank cap getting dirty and pressuring up which forces more fuel into the carburetor and floods the motor. This is also aided by spilled mixed gas which has oil in it running down onto the cylinder heads and then the sawdust sticks to it over time and building up where it makes it difficult for the cylinder head to get rid of all the heat it makes from running. This in turn makes the gas tank hotter and makes it build up pressure in the tank. If the vent cap cant get rid of it as fast as it is created the increased pressure forces too much gasoline into the carburetor and it floods it out.

My homelite tiller stalls after 30-60 seconds of running. i changed plug and checked filter. gas is new

I'm assuming a 2-stroke engine. Does the fuel system have a primer button? Assuming that the answer is yes, the carburetor is not pumping fuel, but starting on the primer charge. Is the carburetor a Walbro brand? If so, got to: http://www.drystacked.com for a 12 page PDF on theory and repair of these carburetors. If the primer works, the main fuel line should be ok.

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen is free of debris.(Should be able to see daylight through it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.
