Question about Amana ARGS7650SS Gas Kitchen Range

It has only heated up about 70 degrees in one hour. what is wrong with it?? it is warming up, but wayyyyyyy toooooo slowly!

Remove the oven floor and turn on.look for the orange glow of the ignitor.within 30-60 seconds the burner should fire .if not, ignitor is weak(drawing less than 3.5 amps) and should be replaced.Hope this helps ,please rate my solution :)

You have a heat pump.
Once the outdoor temperature falls below 36 degrees, heat pumps will sharply lose their ability to heat.
If you are getting a 72 degree indoor temperature when the outdoor temperature is 28-30 degrees, the heat pump is performing up to spec.
On heat pumps, the air coming out of the nearest air vent to the unit should be heated approximately 40 degrees warmer than the air entering the unit.
If you have a 70 degree indoor air temperature, the heat pump should be supplying 110 degree air at the closest air vent to the indoor unit.
Gas heat is a much better heating source where outside temperatures are commonly below 36 degrees.
Even electric furnaces perform better than heat pumps under these conditions.

If your thermostat has an emergency heat setting this means you have a heat pump system.
Yes you need to set the thermostat to heat for heating the house.
The emergency heat setting should never be used unless your outside unit is not functioning.
The emergency heat setting overides the heat pump (the outside unit will not be energized).
The emergency heat setting will run the auxillary heat (heat strips) only.
When the thermostat is set in the heat position the heat pump will run to heat your house.
If the heat pump can't keep up (extreme cold) then then the auxillary heat will kick in to augment the heat pump until it satisfies the thermostat settings. If your room temperature gets 2 degrees below your thermostat setpoint, your auxillary heat will kick on. Example, say you are going to be gone a couple of days and you turn your heat down to 60 degrees. When you return and it is 60 degrees in your house, you turn the thermostat up to 70 degrees. Since you are turning the temperature up 2 degrees or more (10 degrees in this case) from the 60 degree room temperature then the heat pump will come on and the auxillary heat strips. The unit will continue heating like this until the temperature in the house gets to 69 degrees and the heat strips will turn off and the heat pump will continue to run until the 70 degree setpoint is reached.

I turned my thermostat down this morning to 68 degrees. I came back about 2 hours later to increase the temp to 70 degrees but when I push the ^ arrow instead of showing the increase to 70 it just flashes...


Since it's within 2 degrees of your setting it could be one of two things. Most furnaces run longer (pass your setting) to maintain the setting you made. Which really not a problem. However, your thermostat may need calibrating. To test this theory, place a regular wall thermometer next to your furnace's thermostat and see if the two temps match when the furnace cuts on and then when it cuts off.
If the temps are both the same, the furnace thermostat is fine.

If you're turning it down to 68, because no one will be at home during the day, just set it 2 degrees cooler than 68 degrees. You will then wind up with 68 degrees.

There are many variables to this......

How big is your pool how big is your solar system.

Solar temps don't rise quickly ever, and definitely not when the temp is only 75 outside.

You need 80-90 degrees or more on the roof to see quicker results, if the water temp is currently at 70 and it's 75 degrees outside and 80 on the roof you will barely get any change.

You will also lose the heat at night due to lower temperatures.

Once it's hotter outside and warmer at night you get the gains and keep them.

When the thermostat calls for heat it should run until the room reaches the temperature setting then shut off. Is the blower motor running and can you feel air coming out of the vents? It sounds like the blower is either not running or putting out enough air to keep the furnace heating. The blower moves the heat from the heat exchanger to the room, if it can't remove enough heat from the heat exchanger there is a limit switch that will shut the burner off if it gets to hot and that's what it sounds like is happening.

Auto-defrost not working at all


Unless equipped with special equipment most dehumidifiers will produce little if any water under 65-70 degrees. Many state operation down to 50-60 degrees but this was under lab conditions and therefore a marketing tool. The best performance is gained when the air temperature is above 70 degrees. The water you are finding is from melting frost, if you have a humidity problem you should be adding heat to the area to be dried, warm air holds much more moisture than cold and drying is much more effective if you can heat the area to around 80 degrees.

Furnace runs constantly since blower motor was replaced


Sounds like they wired it direct to line voltage , it should run through a sequencer or fan relay to cycle on and off , your seq./relay could be stuck closed to but unlikely being it was just repaired , call the service company back before you do anything they are responsible.

Air conditioners rely on a difference in pressure between the "high side" and "low side" in order to perform. Of course, a/c's are designed to work in the heat. Having a cooler outdoor temp of 70 degrees probably is not sufficient to maintain adequate head pressure and will result in reduced cooling capacity. Also, since it was 68 in the morning in the room, it is possible that the indoor coil began to freeze up. Basically, you have a cold coil that you keep warm by moving air over it. If the air doesn't have enough specific heat (what your thermometer measures) it can allow the coil to get colder than 32 degrees and the condensate from all of your humidity will begin to freeze on the coil. My recommendation would be to check the a/c on a day that is 80+ degrees. If you have an avarage indoor temp of 70 degrees you should be able to look for the air coming out to be approximately 20-25 degrees colder than the air being sucked in.
