Oven not heating after self-cleaning cycle.

I've had this problem already one other time and it was the manual reset switch. the element is new so . i don't want to pay another service charge to have someone come out and test the element etc. as i have ohmmeter etc and can do that, i just don't have a wiring schematic for where the reset button lives. already checked main breakers etc. the stove top, clock etc work, the oven elements just won't heat. help

Re: oven not heating after self-cleaning cycle.

Turn off power to the stove at breaker panel.
Open oven door.
Remove screws from vent panel below the control panel on front of stove.
Directly behind automatic door locking mechanism is a U-Shaped connector with a red button in the middle. Press down the red button.
Replace vent panel.
Restore power.
Set clock and oven should work.

Re: oven not heating after self-cleaning cycle.

Does the convection fan work when the reset switch is depressed. I have a range and when I set the temp and function, I can hear the relays clicking but no power going to the elements. Could this reset switch be the problem.

Preheats very slowly. Also, steam cleaning option seems to not be effective due to low heat. Is there more than one lower oven heating element?

For the oven their is 2 elements 1 for bake and 1 for broil, are each glowing red hot on the respictive settings of bake and broil? their is no trird hidden element. Plus i know manufactures come out with new features all the time,i attend factory trainging sessions a couple times a year but i am confused as to what the "STEAM CLEAN OPTION" IS??
THE SELF CLEAN cycle utilizes both elements to clean the oven adding steam is a new one on me

The clean cycle requires both heating elements to run at the same time.
Since your oven is a 220volt, each heating element will require their own 110v source to heat the oven. This means that the stovetop elements will need to be disabled to prevent the breaker from tripping since the cleaning cycle requires a lot of electricity to do it's job.

There is not enough wattage left over to both clean and cook, this is why cleaning is recommend during a time in which you will not be using your oven.

Can I use the stovetop when my oven is self cleaning?

Yes you should be able to but there are a couple things to consider. When the oven is in the self-cleaning cycle the heating element reaches a very high tempature and runs for extended periods. So if you have a couple top burners going the amperage draw could possibly trip the electrical breaker. Also there is a lot of heat generated around the range during the cleaning cycle and it may be to hot to actually work around the range. There are some ranges that dis-able the top burners during the self-clean cycle. If that is the case with your range then the answer would be no. The way you would know for sure is to try them during the self-cleaning cycle or consult your owners manual.

Sounds like you have burned out the element. The self cleaning cycle takes the oven to a temperature that is well beyond 500'F. It stresses the element to a point where it gets faaarr tooo hot!

How do I use the self cleaning functions - kitchenaid oven

Please allow me to help you first with some background of self cleaning functions:

Self-cleaning ovens use an approximately 900 degrees Fahrenheit (482 degrees Celsius) temperature cycle to burn off spills leftover from baking, without the use of any chemicals. A self-cleaning oven is designed with a mechanical interlock (patented in 1982) to keep the oven door locked and closed during and soon after the high-temperature cleaning cycle, which can be approximately three hours. The door stays locked to prevent burn injuries. You can open the oven door after the oven cools to approximately 600 F (315 C).

If baking spills are not wiped up after baking, there may be some smoke during an oven cleaning cycle. It is a good idea to remove any pets from the area when running the oven's self-cleaning cycle. There have been reports of oven-heated Teflon-coated items releasing odorless fumes deadly to birds.
Self-cleaning ovens have the added benefit of more insulation, which helps the energy efficiency for regular baking. This is similar in concept to an increased R-factor for home insulation.

You will also save energy costs by using the self-cleaning cycle right after baking, to make use of the already partially heated oven.

Please check this website mentioned bellow which would give you a detailed method of how to perform it:

Hope this would help you .

God Bless.

After using the self-clean cycle, display panel went black and oven door stayed locked.

Happens alot dont feel bad , self clean mode runs the elements at 500 deg. to cook off everything possible , what happens is the cabinet gets to hot and heats saftey temp. fuses until they go out and they are not resetable. they are always located in different areas of ranges but usaully in the back. you can ohm them out to check them if you have a meter.let me know if you have any other questions.

My Dacor ER36D wont heat after self-cleaning. What should I do?

Okay, I'm not a service tech, but I fixed this very same problem with my double Dacor oven. My wife self cleaned the bottom oven and after that when we tried to use it, the oven would only stay at the pre-heat (135F) level. My oven is electric, so I flipped the breaker switch at the breaker box in the garage that powers the oven...I didn't want to get electricuted. I opened up the oven door to the bottom oven. Where the latch sticks out there is a grill held on by 4 screws. I took the grill off and using a flash light I found the silver looking "thingy" that is mounted behind the oven latch mechanism. There are two black wires coming from this "thingy." On the right face of the thingy there was this little red button. I pushed it in till I heard in snap back into place. I believe this silver thingy is some sort of heating safety switch. Pushing the red button back in apparently resets the switch. I put everything back and turned the power back on to the oven and it has been working just fine ever since. I hope this layman fix can help the next guy.
