The mode dial on these cameras break off that often that Fuji in Australia is replacing them at no charge - sort of a recall issue.
Call your Authorised Fuji digital camera repair centre, make sure they will replace it at no charge and then send/take it to them

The mode dial on my Fuji S8000 fell off! I was taking a picture and it just fell off!! Is this a common problem and if so, does Fuji repair it at no cost?

Fuji recognise this as a fault and are currently replacing the dial without cost. Send it into an approved Fuji specialist...

How do I change the shutter speed on the Fuji S8000fd

Set the camera to Shutter Priority AE by turning the mode dial to S. Press the +/- button to open the setting screen, then press up/down to select the shutter speed.

You control the shutter speed the same way in Manual mode. You also select different shutter speed/aperture combinations the same way in Program mode.

You can indirectly control the shutter speed in Aperture Priority AE by changing the aperture and letting the camera set the appropriate shutter speed.

The 'mode dial' has come off my S8000fd.

This is a known problem with the S8000. It should be covered by extended warranty. Bring it to your local Fuji repair shop.

Dial mode broke off

This is a known defect in the dial's shaft. Fuji has been replacing them for my customers at no charge. Several have just broken off with no force. Fuji is good about fixing them, even out of warranty.

Mode Dial Broken Off

Hi All
It seems to be a common fault with this camera after contacting the store that i bought it from and being given the runaround I gave Fuji a ring and was told to send it to them and it would be fixed at no charge. Sent away on the next Friday and returned the next Monday week. Great service very happy.

Lens adapter needed

Get yourself a step ring, 52mm for you S8000FD, this has a thread on the end and allows filter attachments. I have an S8000FD and have since bought a step up ring, UV filter and Polariser, plus another lens cap which fits on to the end via a pinch mechanism rather than clamping like the one provided by Fuji.
