Question about Toro Lawn Mower With Toro Power Tools

Open Question

Toro recycler 20071 lawnmower: purchased new traction cable, installed it, but it is too loose,..there is no place to adjust other than the clamp, but it does not tighten the cable itself, just the outer jacket. Help?

The cable itself ( with the black covering is a good length), but the wire cable inside it seems too long...it is connected in the front of the mower by the large spring at the end of the cable and the other end has the little metal piece that hooks into the tension/traction bar. I must have something hooked up incorrectly, but the Toro website is of no help, just shows pics of the parts, not the actual hookup. Any ideas?

The cable is through the slot on that black piece on the handle( the adjustment part), hooked at the top and with the spring at the bottom, but the inner silver wire is so long ( with the fixed round piece that is inside the spring), that it keeps knocking the spring out of the attachment hole, and I still don't have any tension when I try to use the traction bar.

SOURCE: cable traction needs adjusted

To adjust the self propel cable, loosen the cable
clamp, pull the cable downward to remove all the slack
then push the cable jacket up 1/8”
and secure with the cable clamp
good luck

There is an idle screw on the carburetor. It will push the throttle arm to increase the speed. You might have to remove the air cleaner to see it.

How to repair a clutch cable on a toro recycler mower

Did the cable break? Or did it just stop working? In general you have to figure if it came off, break or did the adjustment slip. Readjust if necessary or replace the hole cable or re install it correctly. Simple Question, so many answers. And if all else fails, take it to a lawn mower repair shop.

I have ordered and received a new traction cable for my Toro Recycler Lawn Mower. However, no instructions. How do I attach this cable so that the mower is once again self propelled?

That can be a tough one the cable that houses the throat cable is the secret to make it work. Look at your old cable and make sure it is in stalled in the same position and work backwards until it works . If the cable is not adjusted right you can not get full power.
