Question about AmcorAire UCHW-H12AF2 Split System Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Error code F1 displayed on unit

Amcoraire model #s:
Outdoor Model: aos121hx
Indoor Model: aws121hx

The unit isn't blowing any air out. I've tried resetting the circuit breaker that controls the unit. If I reset the breaker when the unit is in Fan mode, it comes on for about a minute and then turns off with the error code. If I reset the breaker when the unit is in Cool mode, it doesn't come on at all.

I have my installation and owner's manuals, and neither of them give any detailed information about error codes. My AC contractor has no idea how to fix it. He's checked the wiring and says it seems fine.

I contacted the company tech support via the website at It would be nice if the website gave actual info about things like error codes on their tech support pages, but all they give is a contact email/phone #. When I call them, I only get voicemail and they have yet to call me back.

I also emailed them. It took them 2 days to reply to my email, and all they said is that the error codes are model # specific and I hadn't given them the model #. So I have emailed them again with the model #. I am still in the midst of what I assume will be another 2-day wait for the next email reply.

Does anyone out there know what these error codes mean? Beyond this problem, I'm really concerned about what this means long-term. Since they don't seem to publish the error codes in general and you have to email them to find out what each one means, what if the company goes out of business? All the units they have sold will be totally unmaintainable.

We had the exact problem with our unit at work. What we did was turned the unit off at the panel and grounded L1A (or B depending on which fan is displaying the error code) at the condenser and then verified that L1 was grounded at the air handler. In our case it was not, so we rolled L1A and L2S at the condenser. This fixed the error code on our units. Evidently the units need the same sequencing on the fans that the condenser has.
