Look none of the suggestions worked. The regiustry seems to reset itself to 2 rather than 506 after I open stickyKeys . Evything still sticks. By the way I do not have a Windows CD I just reformateed off my HArd Drive. It seems that I have no Sticky keys listed in the accesibility options when I look to uninstall windows compnents.

How to fix this thing??? Verge of suicide.

Hi,

Disable Sticky Keys on a Default Installation 1. Press SHIFT 5 times consecutively. The StickyKeys box will pop up.
2. Click Settings. Accessibility Options pops up.
3. On the "Keyboard" tab click the "Settings" button in the "StickyKeys" section.
4. Uncheck the items in this window and click OK.
5. Click Apply and OK on Accessibility Options.
To learn more about StickyKeys and other Accessibility Features open Help and Support and search for "StickyKeys" or "Accessibility"

Well, here are some tips on how to get rid off STICKYKEYS:
1st tip:
Simply pressing in quick succession the shift key five times will enable or disable the 'stickykeys'.
2nd tip:
Go to CONTROL PANEL, click on ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS, under KEYBOARD TAB, uncheck 'USE STICKYKEYS', click on StickyKeys SETTING, uncheck USE SHORTCUT and uncheck all options under NOTIFICATION - Makes sounds... and Show Stickykeys status on screen.
3rd tip:
Go to CONTROL PANEL, click on ADD/REMOVE Programs, look for stickynotes application and remove.
4th tip:
If the other tips still doesn't help, there might be some leftover registry entries and you may want to seek the help of registry mechanics http://www.pctools.com/registr y-mechanic/?ref=rm_aha.
Or you can personally remove it in the registry entry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Accessibility\StickyKeys ]
"Flags"="506&qu ot;
5th tip:
Try checking if the key is stuck or partially stuck or there must be a need to clean the keys.
6th tip:
Try connecting another keyboard and see if the stickykeys will prompt again, if it stopped, therefore there is a problem with the keyboard. Buy a new one!

The number keys to the right will not work, even after pressing number lock. suggestions?

Please open Device Manager and uninstall what is showing under "Keyboards". If you're unsure on how to perform these steps, follow this link:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c03540049&lc=en&product=5450010&tmp...
Once you have uninstalled the keyboard driver, restart your notebook and it should automatically reinstall for you.
Let me know if this resolves the issue.

  • If the keyboard is not working in Windows, continue with these steps to uninstall and reinstall the keyboard software in Device Manager.
  • Click Start , then click Control Panel.
    Control Panel opens.
  • Click Hardware and Sound.
  • Click Device Manager under Devices and Printers.

    Device Manager opens.
  • Click View, and select Show Hidden Devices.
  • Double-click Keyboards, right-click the keyboard name, and then click the Uninstall button to remove the device from Windows.
  • Restart the computer.
  • The keyboard should now work correctly.
  • Your computer comes with several software programs that can test the keyboard for key or hardware failures. For more information, see the HP Support document Testing for Hardware Failures.
  • Notebook key presses are slow to respond
If there is a short delay from the time a key is pressed to the time the character displays on the screen, the Filter Keys function might be activated. The Filter Keys function provides a greater range of key press options to fine-tune key delays and prevent inadvertent key presses. To disable Filter Keys and return to the default keyboard behavior, use the following steps:
    1. Click Start , and type keyboard in the Search box. Then select Change how your keyboard works under Control Panel.
    2. Remove the selection from Turn on Filter Keys. Then click Set up Filter Keys.
    3. Remove the check next to Turn on Filter Keys when SHIFT is pressed for eight seconds.
    4. Click Apply, click OK, and then close the Ease of Access Center.
The keys should be more responsive.
Pressing a notebook key once types several characters
If two or more characters appear when pressing a key, use the following steps to adjust the key repeat delay:
    1. Click Start , and type keyboard in the Search box. Then click Keyboard under Control Panel.
      The Keyboard Properties page opens.
    2. Set the Repeat delay slider to Long. Click Apply, and then click OK.
    Notebook beeps while typing
If the computer sometimes beeps while you are typing, Toggle Keys or Sticky Keys is active. Toggle Keys causes the computer to emit a beep when the Lock keys are pressed. Sticky Keys causes the computer to emit a beep when the Ctrl, Alt, Shift, or Lock key is pressed. Use the following steps to disable Sticky Keys and Toggle Keys:
    1. Click Start , and type keyboard in the Search box. Then click Change how your keyboard works under Control Panel.
    2. If selected, remove the check next to Turn on Sticky Keys. Then click Set up Sticky keys.
    3. Remove the check next to Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times.
    4. Click Apply, and then click OK to return to the Make the keyboard easier to use page.
    5. Remove the check next to Turn on Toggle Keys.
If selected, remove the selection from Turn on Toggle Keys by holding down the NUM LOCK key for five seconds.
    6. Click Apply, click OK, and then close the Ease of Access Center.
      The beeps no longer sound.
Wrong characters appear when typing, changing keyboard language, or Dvorak
If the wrong characters appear when you are typing, or you are trying to use a different keyboard, use the following steps to synchronize Windows to the type of keyboard you are using:
    1. Click Start , and type region into the Search field. Click Region and Language from the search results.
    2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change Keyboards.

The Text Services and Input Languages page opens.
    3. Click Add.
    4. Select the keyboard you want to use, and click OK.
    5. From the Text Services and Input Languages page, select the new keyboard in the list and click Move up until it is first in the list. This makes it the default keyboard.
    6. Click OK. You can now use the new keyboard.
If you find that the new keyboard service works correctly and you do not want to use the other keyboard, repeat these steps and Remove the keyboard service that you do not need.

Keyboard keys wont type. used on screen keyboard to type this. any suggestions?

You might have "sticky keys" so try this:
When sticky keys are enabled, users can access functions that require pressing multiple modifier keys such as "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Shift" at once by pressing one button at a time. If sticky keys are enabled, it is possible to accidentally turn them on at an unwanted time. After turning off the sticky keys, disable the feature to prevent them from accidentally turning on again.

      • Press the "Shift" button five times in a row to turn off sticky keys.

      • Open the "Start" menu and then click "Control Panel."

      • Click "Ease of Access Center" from within the Control Panel window.

      • Click "Make The Keyboard Easier To Use" from within the Ease of Access Center window.

      • Remove the check-mark beside "Turn On Sticky Keys" to prevent sticky keys from being accidentally turned on.

      • Click "Apply" to save your changes and then click "OK" to close the window.
    Hope this helps. Good Luck!

How to turn off sticky keys

Since you did not post an OS, I will post the steps for Windows Vista (should basicly be the same steps for any windows computer). Click on start, Control Panel, Ease of Access, Ease of Access Center, and the click make the keyboard easier to use. Sticky Keys should be on the list and you can disable it from there.

    hope this helps

    SHIFT KEYS NOT WORKING PROPERLY

Please try to deactivate the Fn (function) key. That will help you get rid of your problem. Press Fn key + Numlock key once and try again. You can also try pressing the Fn key once and type letters in any word processor program with the key combination everytime you press the Fn key once. E.g. open the notepad, press Fn once and after that press ) with Shift.

If you have problem, let me know.

    Good luck.

To disable all unwanted start up items in vista, please follow the mentioned steps-

    1. Click on the Vista start icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.
windows_start_logo.gif 2. Type MSCONFIG in the search box and then either press enter on your keyboard or double-click on the MSCONFIG program that appears in the search results.
    vista_system_configuration.gif

Or, if you're already logged into Vista as an administrator, you may see a box asking you if you would like to continue.
