Do you have a clicking noise in compressor area? if so it's the relay..if not it sounds like you have a problem with the defrost timer...when the refridge goes into defrost cycle compressor shuts down and defrost cycle starts...sometimes defrost timer gets stuck in cycle and appliance shuts down...there are 2 types of defrost timer..machanical whick are normally lcoated in the control panel in the fridge or underneath the front behind kick panel....there is a dial on the timer you can advance timer if refridge starts you have found your problem..replace. The other type is a digital time which is built into control board...you will need to replace control board. Hope this helps...good luck!

Should the fan operate all the time in my refrigerator

Most of the time it runs only when the compressor is running. In other words compressor and fans will run together when the fridge thermostat ask for cold and stops together when thermostat is satisfied. In newer fridges some time inside fan (evaporator fan) might PERIODICALLY run without compressor to circulate little cool air to fridge compartment from freezer compartment.

Galaxy mini fridge stopped working

The thermostat, which is also an ON_OFF switch has failed (@ 99% probability).

No, the little fridge doesn't have a pressure switch to turn the compressor off when freon is low. And no, auto freon is the wrong kind and it wont work in the little fridge. The freon that your little fridge uses is the stuff that all the fuss has been about (with the ozone layer), so it is not sold to appliance owners but only to licensed techs.

If this is helpful I hope you'll take a sec to rate me. Thanks!

My side by side fridge has stopped chilling down, the power is Ok, and moter seems to be working, but no cold inside. A few months ago the freezer side stopped, but as i did not use it , i just left well...

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

My roper side by side is getting hot

Depending on where your fridge is getting hot, this could be a normal operation of your fridge. if your feeling heat on the outside or in between the freezer and fridge this is normal due to the heating element inside the walls of your fridge. this heater is ther to eliminate any condensation that may occur inside the walls and insulation of the fridge. if you are getting a large amount of heat coming from the back of the fridge this could indicate that the compressor may be on the way out, and constantly running.hope this helps.

Thanks

The freezer blows hot air

not enough info. When blowing hot air, is the compressor running? Is unit an electroinc control or mechanical th/stat with defrost timer. Ill go with what i think.Possibly you fridge is stuck on auto defrost. Inside on the evap.plate is a clixon.(round device with 2 wires comming out ) This item is possibly gone faulty."not opening at a certain temp." making the heat increase in the freezer. find the defrost timer and forward the shaft untill compressor comes on. If it comes on, keep your eyes on the fridge for a 12 hour period. if it happens again after that, call the tech.(normally defrost timer is at the back by the compressor.)

Kenmore top freezer fridge does not cool but freezer works

Turned refrigerator off for 8 hours, let the frost melt and the fan in the freezer worked again. The compressor now only has a soft clunk when it goes off.

Compressor problem after brownout

When you say the compressor is not running, is it cold, or very hot?
If Hot remove power let it cool off then reconnect to power, listen carefully to see if compressor starts. If it does GREAT. If it does not you should hear a click after a few seconds. That is a safety device to stop power to the compressor, or it would destroy itself from drawing too much power from not turning. If this happens then the compressor is stuck. (this is as far as you can go without an AC man)
If it's cold, and has been plugged in for a while then either power is not reaching the compressor ( bad safety device mentioned above stuck open or burned out), or you have an open connection. This open connection could be outside, or inside the compressor. If inside, then compressor replacement is the only solution.
Another problem,if cold and it's a frost less unit, it could be the defrosting clock stuck on defrost. This would make the inside of unit warm because it turns on a defrosting heather. If this is you case then find the clock. usually positioned at front bottom behind the removable grill. It has a one way slotted fit. Use a wide flat screwdriver to slowly turn the dial to see if compressor starts. If it does great, but not done yet. After a while turn clock again slowly until the compressor stops, then wait (up to 30 minutes) to see if starts up again. If it does not clock needs replacement. I usually replace clock anyway at the first sign of problem, because chances are it will stop again. Best I can do without being there, hope it helps you.

LG fridge suddenly stopped cooling.

If the fan inside the freezer is running and the compressor behind the fridge is running and is hot to touch, you have a gas problem or the compressor is inefficient. This can only be confirmed by connecting refrigeration gauges to the gas system and should only be performed by a fridge tech.
